Thanks Matt, great video and tips. You can’t repair eyes, so I agree with Matt’s comments on safety. I have solar sunglasses that ill be wearing, and I picked up this Nisi filter at 95mm to try my luck at 1000m. Only other tip that read that wasn’t mentioned is make sure to put the filter on the camera before pointing it to the sun. You can damage a sensor if it get exposed without it. And only remove the filter once the camera is pointed down. Common sense but one may forget in the heat of the moment. Hope to get a nice shot like yours Matt! Thanks

I think he did mention that, maybe I misheard

Speaking of heat, everyone needs to be aware that the filter itself will get VERY hot while photographing the sun. Make sure you have some gloves to wear if you plan to take it off right after shooting.

Can this filter be used continuously from the beginning to the end of the eclipse ? Or the lens cap must be used between shots ? Thanks Great video 👍🏼. Already a subscriber

Do i have to wear any solar glasses along with this. if i already have this filter installed and my camera model is R6 which has Electronic viewfinder
@nisifiltersaustralia8 ай бұрын
Only if you plan to look at the sun directly with your eyes. If you only look at the sun on the back of the live view screen, the glasses are not required.

There is no way you would damage your eyes with a mirrorless system. You could have started there. I was looking for info on the range of exposure during an eclipse. Obviously it will change. Good sales pitch here.

I was wondering if you could elaborate on the function of the incremental check box in the text editor of EO. and also about porting over the script from EO to EM. I have both but EO seems to be a bit more buggy. ie. the live view does not work and running a simulated view causes the program to crash. You must also have your camera plugged in just to work on the script and over half the time it won't find the camera. D850. However the text editor is great and the time line is great. EM seem more stable, live view works well and it does not crash. Please don't end early for the sake of time. you two are only the second people to talke about this topic ever that I can find.

Thanks for the info. Question: will a smaller threaded filter of this be safe to use on a Sony camcorder to record the upcoming eclipse?
@NiSiOpticsUSA9 ай бұрын
Yes it would block the light, but you will need to check the camera's lowest ISO to see if 16 stops will be enough.

Is it compatible with the v7 ND system? I'd like to use it instead of the CPL filter
@NiSiOpticsUSA Жыл бұрын
B&H have a 100x100mm version of this filter available exclusively that can be used with the V7. Sorry it does nto replace the CPL: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1779493-REG/nisi_nip_100_nd5_0_100_x_100mm_nano.html/overview

So with a mirrorless you can look through the viewfinder with this on the lens?
@NiSiOpticsUSA Жыл бұрын
As long as it's an electronic viewfinder you are good to look through once the filter is in-place and you have followed the directions included with the filter.

Scientifically speaking... the sun isn't yellow though is it?
@NiSiOpticsUSA Жыл бұрын
The filter will give you a very accurate color which is more white than yellow. Adding the yellow in post is personal preference.
