Basic question. The stroke width cannot be set at any pixel. And it does not get thinner from a certain width. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Try using a second map, link it to the existing one and draw the stroke on it, best of luck

The plug in is not free but the have a web application that you can try
