Diablo 4? I'm praying for a Diablo reboot (with Diablo 1 as an extended prologue) so they can undo the clusterfuck that was Diablo 3's lame story, characterisation and art direction. Nothing will bring Blizzard North back though, they are to Diablo what Lucas became with the Star Wars prequels now.

This for me is the single best video game OST song every composed. Because it's the single greatest piece of music ever included in a video game? No (although I have to imagine it's up there) - it's because it not only captured the tone of the game and the environment in Tristram, but it added so much depth to an otherwise boring town. I used to look forward to going back to Tristram in Diablo because of this music. It was haunting, foreboding, and reassuring all at the same time. Outrageously beautiful and chilling bit of music

Cool beans. I played Diablo 2 for a decade, for at least 30 hours each week, and many gaming binges where I would play up to 16 hours a day with friends. I had various level 99 characters. I also played and won every single Diablo 2 mod in existence. I find Path of Exile to be the closest thing to it, and a worthy spiritual successor. It has everything that made Diablo 2 excellent, and it's still in beta.

I heard that he actually recorded a few *riffs/chords* on tape and then mixed it into a full song. Look for it on the Internet. He then just arranged it and filled the gaps. Because the tapes only allowed a limited amount of recording time. It was then 16 riffs/chords, of which upon he built the whole song. I don't remember where I read that but there is a lot of composer notes on the LOD soundtrack which involved a full orchestra written by himself. It was an interesting read.... Because one of the LOD tracks is a harmonical or something recital of Diablo Tristam, maybe its Rogue or Camp.....

Thanks so much for sharing this information I unbelievably appreciate it and even though you don't know the full story I bet if we knew the correct terms and know the behinds of how this was done somewhere on the internet there might exist a video/pictures or some source of it. If there is one thing I am sure about it's that it's out there somewhere maybe even looking up "How was the diablo 1 soundtrack made" would help and then you could slowly find other bits of info, still what you're writing is fascinating I recall similararities with other games from a different PS1 game for the audio creation and the way you're saying it brings me back.

The Terran theme was one of his best works. It is a shame the video game industry doesn't take care of their great composers. The whole Marty O'Donnell fiasco with Activision exposed that.

Diablo 2 was and still is one of my favourite games of all time. I'm not even sure if I've actually clocked it, but even to this day it's very playable. It can and will withstand the tests of time for a long time. There's something about it other games like Torchlight, Titan Quest and Path of Exile get close to, but can never get right. I love it.

I can think of 3 genius soundtracks of 3 genius games: Diablo, Heroes of Might and Magic and Doom(2016)
Diablo 2 was sort of a giant masterpiece.. and I say that not even just for the time. graphically dark, not too grind based, and highly customisable builds as far as character creation goes. The amount of games that were based off of Diablo 2, as far as the way character customisation goes is absolutely insane. Totally revolutionary. If that makes Diablo 2 suck, well then.. You probably don't like that kind of game, and I'm not exactly sure why you're on this page right now lol.

The problem with TL2 is it suffers at higher levels because magic items just become this massive list of abilities, so comparing one item to another is impossible. Every item feels like a slight boost, and after a certain point you don't really care about finding new stuff. In Path of Exile, when you find a new item it will always have a very large effect compared to your level.
@kaliek528111 жыл бұрын
Torchlight 2. It feels VERY much like Diablo 2...and this is because it has a lot of the original Diablo 2 developers working on it. As for music, guess what? Blizzard North was once a company called Condor, who made Diablo. They were bought by Blizzard Entertainment right before Diablo's release. They also created Diablo 2 and LoD as Blizzard North, but everybody left the company soon after, and it was disbanded. Diablo 3 has nothing to do with the Condor people who made the first two Diablo games, which is why it sucks. Many of the Blizzard North people are now Runic Games, which is why Torchlight is awesome. Uelmen also works for Runic, now.
