@maxime60934 жыл бұрын
I admire the fact he kept Chase even though he'll never be competitive. Though, he's in a position where he gets to keep him, he has the money to care for multiple horses. I'm sure he's also kept him because they have such a close bond. Some people have goals to be competitive but don't have enough money to keep 2 horses, so if their horse happens to dislike competing they often choose to sell the horse and look for a horse that better fits their goals. I'd keep a horse no matter if it is competitive or not, but some people have very clear goals and decide to sell their horse to look for another because they don't have the resources to keep 2. As long as the horse is in a loving home, it should not matter what you decide to do :)

It is truly exceptional to have a horse owner that actually tries to really understand how their horse emotionally. Not all horses enjoy jumping, or dressage, etc. I’ve had a few horses and each one had their own preferences. My first Loved Jumping and Water. My second enjoyed cross country jumping and dressage. My third just enjoyed getting out, etc. All horses are each different in their strengths and weakness or what They Want and Enjoy. I truly Respect Matt for understanding this...

@lunaspawws29464 жыл бұрын
@@teenutz6987 did you even watch the video?. I think its so good to see that he doesn't force him to be what he want's him to be. Chase being a dressage horse must have bin expensive as hell, but that dosn't matter. He's letting him be a Horse and that is the only thing, a horse is ment to be anyway. Chase adores him because matt show's him love and cares for him. When he would care about him, the bond wouldn't be there anymore and he would just force him to everything, or sell him to the next person he sees. Do you think he's only in the stable and is doing stuff when the camera is on? When he would film the new horses and would show what he's doing with them, people would say that he bought them for decoration ore to show how "rich" he is. For some people he could do everything and it would be wrong.

I really appreciate someone who can tell a horse isn’t happy in a certain job. I’ve been around several trainers that try too hard to push a horse that just doesn’t want to do it. I agree. As long as you give them some attention and feeling they have a purpose in life, a horse can be happily retired. For their health and muscle tone a good lunge a few times a week, but for the most part just love and attention does just fine.

Matt, you are an amazing inspiration for the entire equestrain world "if my horse doesnt want to do it, i dont want to force it" :')

A million thanks for what you said about horses. I'm old, I've ridden since I was 16 months (a baby!) so have ridden for about 50 yrs. I've always said exactly what you did about horses, only to be told by newer riders that horses need to be ridden daily. Smh. I've never figured out where they got that nonsense from. As much as we'd like our horse's world to revolve around us, it just doesn't. They like other horse company, they like doing their own thing, they like eating. How many treats we give them often plays a big factor in how important we are to them.😃

You’re so right, horses love to be horses they don’t care about competition, that’s a human thing. I commend you for taking his wants and needs into consideration. I wish there were more horse owners like you.

I really love that you pay so much attention to your horses. Not just their health and training, but their likes and dislikes and what brings them joy. Working with rescued standardbreds, I really wish more of the horse community followed this line of thinking! Thank you both for being such a great example!

So much respect for this decision! It's clear how much you love your horses when you let them just be themselves like this. I hope you and all the boys (and maisie) will stay happy for a long time, and enjoy your time together! :D

I just love it that you take the time to really listen to your horse and if he doesn't want to be ridden every day then you shouldn't. The trick training is also a really great way to bond with your horse and to show affection and to just spend time with him❤

This video has just helped me more than you can know. I have a beautiful appaloosa called Peppy and I have struggled so much with riding due to my arthritis. At 46, last week I was told I have to stop riding and cut down on all the hard work due to the severity of my knees and walking as I'm too young to get knee replacements and my surgeon wants to try to delay this. I worry so much that I'm letting Peppy down, he is now living out more and I'm lucky he is at home with me and has his shetland buddy. I just cant muck out every day now. But I realise now he is just as happy if not happier and just loves to hang out with me no pressure. I didn't want others riding him as he is so bonded to me and is so special to me. It's fantastic to see you put Chase's needs first too despite your goals and aspirations. I now feel at peace with having a huge field ornament and pet.

I love the character your horses have! How they love to interact with you and be around you. It makes it even more sad how the school horses working 7 hours a day lose their personality completely. I wish a home like your horses have for every horse.

My mare is the same. If i ride her too often she doesnt want to be caught. So i have to give her a balance of days where we just lunge and do ground work, one day we ride, and one day i just come pet her and give her treats. Even my days of riding are different. One day we go bare back and the other we got the saddle. So far shes more willing to be ridden. It cant always be about work. We all need to have fun and sometime to chill.

Chase looks terrific because he's happy. I am so happy that you provide what your horse needs to be happy instead of what you want. More people need to live by your quote, "A horse is not born to be ridden, a horse is born to be a horse" I hope a lot people hear that message and take it to heart.
