The baby is very much dead, yep. And there is a version of the story where his mother (Andromaca, I believe?) actually witnessed it while being restrained by the soldiers. "Full speed ahead" happens once the war is done, but I feel you the whiplash from "I'M KILLING THIS CHILD" to "Yey, I'm gonna see my wife :D" is huge

In universe knowledge (not spoilers). So, gods can summon choirs. If it’s a human and there are background vocals, that means it has to be the other entities present… Which means his men joined him in on “When does a man become a monster?” as they fought, and he dropped the child. When you hear that reverse audio, it’s Athena pulling Odysseus into what’s called “Quick Thought”. It happens in an instant in normal time, but full conversations can happen in Quick Thought.

A yes take the baby away from its home to avoid prophecy, that's the story of Oedipus. He gets sent to another kingdom as a baby because he prophesied to kill his father the King and marry his Mother. Then in the other kingdom once he comes of age (not knowing he is adopted) gets the same prophecy so to avoid that he leaves the new kingdom, ends up back at his orignal kingdom where he unknowingly kills his father, goes on manhunt for the King killer (himself) and marries the Queen (his mother)

What happened with athena is called quick thought (one of her abilities): She doesnt stop time per say merely makes your thoughts QUICKER. So this whole song happend in the time it took polities to throw an APPLE. A good indicator that a characters entered been brought into quickthought is that either A) the backround becomes that murky grey we saw here. Or B) it turns into a shade of blue. Though to be fair, she's goes into quick thought every time people are around oddy since she doesnt want them to know.

Here’s a fun fact: every character has an instrument associated with them. Odysseus’s is the guitar (either acoustic or electric depending on his mood), Penelope has violas, Eurylochus is the voices of the crew, Polites is the drum (I forgot what the specific drum is called) and Athena is piano. You’ll notice other instruments for other character down the line as well

Just to clarify, Warrior of the Mind is the story of how Odysseus and Athena met and became mentor/mentee (emphasis on that, not 'friends'). The whole conversation happened inside Oddyseus's mind in an instant (which you obviously realised at the end), and it was Athena's way of reminding Odysseus not to follow Polites's way of thinking ("greet the world with open arms"). My Goodbye at the end of the Cyclops saga has the same device of an instantaneous conversation between them in Odysseus's mind as well, and its used at least one other time in the series 😊

Yes! Such a good choice to go about this by watch per saga instead of per song. So many of them are connected and doing them separately like that can really muck up some of the more impactful moments in the story unless you have the memory of an elephant. Yesss this was so good. I’m so happy you’re checking out more. Next up is the Cyclops Saga. Also, these last three songs are taking place AFTER the battle of Troy, so after the baby incident. Another fun fact for ya, background vocals are diegetic, meaning that are coming from people. For example, the background vocals on ‘600 men’ are the crew joining in. Only gods and goddesses have the ability to create background vocals without other people singing those vocals. So just keep in mind that if your hearing background vocals it’s either the crew or other people joining in or it’s produced by a god/goddess.

The first animatic made that included Polites had him with the headband and glasses. This was based off of the singer’s appearance and to help differentiate him from the other characters. Since then animators have used the glasses and headband.

Others have already talked about the infant so I'm just going to say that I'm very happy you're doing this! And by Saga at that-- I think that's a good choice. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts as the story progresses. The three animators you watched in this video were Gigi (pronounced gee-gee), Wolfythewitch, and Mircsy (merchy). Other big-name animators for the fandom include (though not comprehensively) Anniflamma, Ximena Natzel, Gwendy (shoot-- don't remember her channel name), and Crashite. With the Cyclops Saga, I do recommend Mircsy for Survive and Wolfythewitch for Remember Them. I personally would also go with Wolfy for Polyphemus and My Goodbye too, but I think popular opinion is Mircsy for Polyphemus. (I just find an artistic choice of Mircsy's unsettling/confusing for new fans if you start the saga out with Mircsy, though it works very well for Survive.)

Also just a tip, for the first two sagas there is an older version from when jorge was working with a different company who wasn't giving him credit for his work so he remade them. The remakes are basically the same thing but the background vocals and instruments sound a little different you might want to watch the rest in the new versions or go back and start with the new on.

Gigi re-released some of their animatics with the remastered soundtracks. So when Gigi made the original animatic for Just A Man, no one knew for sure if the baby was dropped. The new video shows an outline of the hand opening (to let the infant drop) after the screen goes to black

I would highly recommend listening to Your Light either in a separate video before the next saga, or as the first song when you listen to the Cyclops Saga, as it was originally going to take the place of Open Arms.

Advice for which animatics to watch: watch ALL off Gigi's ones when they show up in the order but make sure they are full length ones cuz she sometimes does clip animatics. Yay, it was really good! Before it was first time, when I wrote the comments under your video. And you started talking about information, what I wrote here! It’s really cool, thank you so much! What I can say more about all the story, what you saw, yeah, he dropped the baby- And the reason, why all of this people down didn’t said anything, because… It’s a War? And they are the soldiers. Interesting detail: If you started be more inside of the moment, the soldiers, on the contrary, began to sing louder at the moment when Odysseus was walking towards the window. They themselves were pushing him more and more towards this moment, the artist conveyed this in colors, in the colors of the flame, the fire that covered everything below. I really was shocked, when I realized that More interesting information: details related to the music and accompaniment, both musical and vocal. Each important character in the story has his own Instrument. For Odysseus, it is a guitar. The sound of the guitar varies because different types of guitars are used for different moments in the story. The soft sound of a nylon guitar, a classical one, shows his closeness to home, his humanity; an electric guitar can be heard during battles, when he is ready for them, or when he is, for example, extremely hostile. For Athena, the instrument is a piano. If you pay attention to the sound of the music, you can even assume not only what is happening around, but also Who may appear on the screen soon. Or who is watching him, who knows? Aaaaand yes, parts of the musical, divided by plot, are called Sagas. The first was the Troy Saga, after that, in Act 1 there are 4 more Sagas: Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga and Underworld Saga. There are 4 songs in the Cyclops Saga: Polyphemus, Survive, Remember Them and My Goodbye. For the first two songs you can continue watching mirtci, because this series of animations is so good that it kills the person in me. HERES SOME MOTIF ANSWERS: The piano is Athena’s instrument and that quick theme that plays is her motif Odysseus has the guitar, it can we acoustic or electric depending on if he feels Ruthless or emotional. Something I haven't seen mentioned in the comments; this is a retelling of the Odyssey but the creator has made his own alterations to the story as he wants to tell it. I don't know what those are and I wouldn't spoil it either way, it's just something to note since you might see some differences.

It’s still quite a ways away, but somebody re-uploaded the livestream playthrough for the Wisdom Saga when you get there (I’ll probably mention this again after the other sagas since Wisdom is most recent)… You can actually watch the animatics that were commissioned by Jorge and see him reacting to his own music. It’s rather wholesome. When it’s closer to time, I’ll go back and find the person who posted it. It’s just really cool to see what he had in mind when writing the music.

Hey, so I know that this was posted a couple days ago. But let me do a quick breakdown. Every batch of songs is called a saga. Here are all of the sagas in order Troy Saga Cyclops saga Ocean Saga Circe saga Underworld saga Thunder saga Wisdom sage (These ones have yet to be released but are coming soon) Vengance Saga Ithica Saga. The entire musical is based off of the Odyssey. And follows the main character Odysseus as he battles with gods, mythical creatures, And other monstrosities. Such as the pictures that you saw, the first one being a creature known as scylla. The pit actually being a creature called charybdis. And the final one being the eye of the Cyclops. The Cyclops is obviously found in the Cyclops saga, scylla is found in the thunder saga, and caribdis has yet to be seen but will be a main antagonist of the vengeance saga

"The Gods play with the lives of men" - Terry Pratchett, Gurads! Guards! This quote would work wonderfully for the role of Gods in Greek epics, especially The Illiad and The Odyssey and it explains their involvement quite well. It's also one of the reasons Odysseus kinda had to listen to what Zeus told him and couldn't do one of his other ideas. "The gods will make him know" and all that. The baby has been yeeted, but you'll never forget about it. Ody sure doesn't 😁 Technically a bit of a spoiler, but that "hydra" isn't a hydra, it's a different monster, but you'll see that in the Thunder Saga. Also the "spikey pit" isn't just ... some place, it's also a monster, one that hasn't yet been officially introduced to EPIC as that Saga hasn't been released yet. All EPIC fans/visual artists have basically mutually agreed to base the characters on the singers, so Odyseuss looks like Jorge and so on. Polites' singer wears glasses, so Polites also has glasses. I love how you heard Open Arms and immediately knew such a wholesome character couldn't have lasted 😂 Btw this song is one that potentially traumatized the whole EPIC fandom more than any other because Jorge likes to milk it for all it's worth. Athena is an owl, because that was her sacred animal in Ancient Greek - also the reason we associate them with wisdom to this day. Also, what she does when she seemingly pauses time only for her and Odysseus is called "Quick-thought", which is basically as the name says; she makes Odysseus' thinking faster than everything around him.

There are currently released 7 sagas. 5 sagas in Act 1, 2 released so far for Act 2. The last 2 acts are getting released in the next year. So yeah, we eating good!

NOT A SPOILER JUST A SUGGESTION FOR ANIMATICS!!!! In my honest opinion when you get to the ocean saga (which is right after CYCLOPS) I would watch the last 2 songs with gigi's animatics. It is a continuation of the 3rd song like the open arms and warrior of the mind in this saga. All in all love when people get introduced to the life changing experience of EPIC. welcome to the dark side my friend. You are now one of us!!!

when i started this musical i read the wiki summery of the story. i dont feel like it spoils in the traditional sense bc imo i think some parts of this project does rely on you knowing some details from the original and wont flat out explain to u, so i think knowing the rough outline of the story lets u appreciate some of the Easter eggs and other moments more deeply, both in the music and some of the animator's choices of depiction

EPIC: The Musical is loosely based on The Odyssey. Some parts got changed, some stuff changed because unknown info and mess ups. lol Which is funny to learn about. There is a bunch of Sagas but, story isn't finished just yet. Want to say a little after the middle of the story atm. Think there is a video on it by someone but long story short. He dropped the baby. Next up is the Cyclops Saga
