kitna and palmer were both decent warrick hurt his knee and wasnt a #1 reciever even in college he played in the slot combined with the fact its harder to do what he did in the nfl than college based on the average athlete on the other team. he could have been a very productive slot receiver if he was still healthy when the bengals got good but i thinks its just as much that he was a slot receiver expected to produce as a #1 without other good wr's around him(fsu had better wr's than the bengals).

I took my daughter to a Bengals training camp practice. The players filed out and some made their way to where the fans were at, behind an orange and black rope. Peter Warrick, came out with a huge smile, laughing and joking, talking to the fans. He made his way to my daughter and shook her hand, he asked her name and asked don’t you have anything for me to sign? She said she didn’t bring anything. Told her to come back and he would personally find her and sign whatever she brought. Before he left, he told her listen, do well in school, respect your teachers, and listen to your parents and you’ll do well in life. Just an amazing young man. I have nothing but respect for him.

Love your channel, especially your Peter Ward coverage. Just wanted to give you some context from an old head and huge Peter Warwick fan here. I watched all those seasons you highlighted, and yeah, his average yards per catch were pretty pedestrian. But here’s some context your video might be missing, though you probably already know this. I’ll get right to the point. Ward caught so many screen passes that either went for one yard or lost yards because he was trying to be elusive. The Bengals’ offensive line and quarterback weren’t giving him any help, but that happens sometimes. Great players rise above, but because of his stature-coming in at like 5’10”, just under six feet-he was in an offense that didn’t maximize his potential. In a system similar to the Pittsburgh Steelers’, he could’ve been Antonio Brown. That’s what he should’ve been. But because the schemes were so different in the late 90s and early 2000s, the best innovation they really had were slants and screen passes. And being on the Bengals at that time, those plays often went for lost yardage. So, there you have it.

Lavarneus Coles was that teammate. He went on to be successful and played years for the NY Jets. Peter Warrick turned out pretty good also. Creekside was A VERY VERY GOOD TEAM FOR yrs.. I live in Fairburn Ga

This seems like a simple case of not everyone’s great college talent translates to making a big mark in the NFL. Good on him he didn’t let the hype get him down about his NFL career. Side note, this is one of the only college players I actually followed when I was a kid.

Just seem like Bad timing, he got Drafted first in Cincinnati where at the time was a bad franchise were busts were a regular thing, he Ran a 4.6 forty which isn't fast but doesn't mean u can't play in THE NFL cause alot of Great players weren't 4.2 or 4.3 guys and also injuries and NFL systems now cater to players

I remember Peter Warrick because of the 1998 National Championship game. Tennessee held him to 1 catch for 9 yards and Tennessee WR, Peerless Price, went off.

Tennessee had a good defense. It was more about Mark Richt never tried to scheme to get him the ball more which still baffles FSU fans to this day. That along with the fact we were playing a third string QB that couldn’t pass the ball didn’t help.

@@RayPetty-ho9wi That last part... to have even hung around in that game (I was even wishing Dan Kendra hadn't gotten hurt at times during the season LOL) was a borderline miracle. Had Weinke been healthy, we win that game going away.

Peter "P-Dub" Warrick, was absolute offensive favorite college player ever. In ability i think he might be top 3 college receiver of all time. An absolute stud. Wish his pro career panned out like it was projected.
