Great update videos on this project. Your black and white work is inspiring and I’m excited to see more! Seeing your work as well as other black and white photographers was a contributing factor in myself switching over to shooting mostly black and white for my personal projects. Thanks for the inspiration! I absolutely love the emotion and raw feeling the medium can communicate. I hope you are the fam are doing well as that good ol’ Ohio summer rolls around. Because after all, “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity that’ll kill ya”

Another superb video thank you Matt. And CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hope all is well. Interesting observation about Chillicothe and your realisation that you didn’t want to just document the change. I’ve had a similar thought about my on/off work around the small, SW England town I live in. I’ve found (literally in the last 2 days) a ‘thing’ on which to hang the work, which I think will speak to the town’s 900 year history and it’s future. Feels good (finally after 2 years of false starts). Great to be along for the ride with you and really enjoying these more honest (not that you were dishonest but you know what I mean), process-oriented videos. I get a hell of a lot for them and I can’t imagine how difficult it was to get this one out there given your last few days! 🙌👏

Thank you so much, Ben. Truly appreciate the support and that feedback, it’s been a conscious effort to stay grounded and true to myself with the videos. And good look on that project! Finding threads to follow is always exciting. ❤️

Always enjoy these... they seem to help me focus in a weird way. Don't you dare diminish your drive and work (and sometimes imperfect seeking of it) by calling it silly and little.

❤️ thank you for the kind words. I’m really glad the videos help! And you’re right, it truly does change everything.

@@mattdayphoto I'd like to say it gets better but in some ways it simply doesn't. It's not a void that can filled.... you just learn to accept it and eventually focus on the memory rather than loss, slowly building new joys OF WHICH YOU HAVE A HUGE ONE NOW! Congrats. Didn't read that til later yesterday. (and I know well the likely feelings of wishing she was around for this too) Ooph. Cheers to you and yours.

I've been following you for some time now and I've noticed the change. It's seems like it's back to photography and less about the gear. I Like the change! Keep up the great work!

Love your work and video updates Matt. I'm currently working on my own project: Forgotten Things. It can be really heart wrenching at times but wow, it really brings back some great nostalgic childhood memories. Peace ✌

Love to hear it and thank you! I’m learning I can’t steamroll every project and hammer it out start to finish. Giving myself breaks when necessary makes a big difference.

Dude you look happy in this video. Love to see that. I think at the end you have to go out there and shoot, just do it. And don't expect the banger photo all the time, I liked what you said: shoot what catches my eye. I try this at the moment and lets see where it brings me ; )

Hi Matt, you might’ve answered this, but are you printing your 6x4 test shots on your 1000 pro? Can I ask what paper stock your using?

What photo printer model are you using?
@mattdayphoto2 жыл бұрын
Canon Pro-1000. I got lucky and a friend offered to give it to me for free late last year, with the caveat that it sat unused for a couple of years and was totally untested. I paid about 2/3 of the price of one just to get the ink, maintenance cartridges, and paper to get it brought back to life and dialed in. Since I got it going again, I print at least once a day and it’s been great. 🙏🏻

why do you even bother to shoot film anymore, you dont even print your work
@mattdayphoto2 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you meant printing in the darkroom, in which case I do when I get the opportunity to. Whether it be at a community darkroom where I can book a time in there to work, or just printing in a friends darkroom for fun. I do like the idea of one day when I’m old and I have a lifetime of pictures, I can take my time to just enjoy looking back and making prints for me. Or maybe I’ll stop shooting film tomorrow, it ain’t that serious ❤️
