A few months on from his debut iteration on Stil vor Talent, Italian producer Matteo Rivetto returns to the fold with his followup EP, 'The Beginning'. Named so because it is the first song that caught the attention of Paul from HVOB, Matteo's friend and mentor in the world of music, 'The Beginning' is about the commencement of a new chapter for Matteo, from which he gained the spirit and strength to pursue his dreams of music production and fulfill his potential. An electronic re-edit of a song from his band / side-project Extravaganza, the track pulsates with a distinctively brooding atmosphere and soulful melancholy, both sensually muted and hypnotic to the full - making it the ideal companion for these in-limbo moments, suspended halfway contemplative stasis and floor-friendly dynamism. In the hands of Hidden Empire, the song morphs into a pumped-up bulldozer, pulling out the hefty arp artillery along with a brutal offload of FX-soaked acid bass maneuvers and obsessive synth stabs from way deep.

This track is a perfect example of whats wrong in modern electronic music: 5:23mins long, of which ~1:15mins break, so ⅕ of the track. How do you even think someone's be able to dance wholeheartedly to this? It's simple not possible! No wonder that the scene is dividing more and more, if a large part of modern djing seems like putting one break after another, making it "oh so cool" and perfect for short vids for your social media feed. Really sad development, but let's see how electronic music looks in a few years when the hype is over and the revolution ate it's children... Don't mistake me, I'm a big fan of Stil vor Talent for over ten years, but let's look forward into a better future, since it's not the first crisis of our subculture :)
