Look at Kelly rocking out of the saddle. Inspirational to all cycling fans and riders the best athlete to come out of Ireland no question. Very modest quiet man true working class hero but a real hard man. One of the best finishes in any race Argentin showed tremendous heart on the way up the Poggio but Kellys tactical experience and sheer determination on the descent won the day. Always smile as I see Kelly pump the air going over the line. Class sprinter. Proud to be Irish when I watch this.

One of the best Classics in memory. Had just finished cycling from Amsterdam to Giethoorn in completely shit (read: Dutch) windy/rainy/cold weather. Got there just time to catch the finish on TV. Great stuff.

David Duffield made pro cycling accessible for a lot of us who weren't "true cyclists" but just loved riding our bikes. A six- hour stage through rural France was like a guided tour of the bars, hotels, restaurants, cheese factories, oh and a potted history of the race as well. Cycling was lucky to have him.

happy days here in ireland, sean kelly and stephen roche gave us great times back in the 80s and early 90s, once i got a taxi from nice airport when i was on a vacation in france, the taxi man asked us were we irish, we said yes, he went on to say he had cycled with the same team as kelly , he said sean kelly was a total gentleman who was a real humble man who insisted on sharing his winnings with the team, he could not speak higher of sean kelly

Brilliant commentary, really adds to the excitement of the race. Kelly was some man, wasn't he? That descent is awesome, especially at 5:30 where he's pedalling down around those bends, out of the saddle, while Argentin freewheels them.

If Argentin had a race radio in his ear, he would had a better idea that Kelly was on his way after him and probably would have pushed harder on the descent, this what racing was.

a great, and well deserved, win by Kelly. Argentin didn't descend fast enough, you can see him spinning more where Kelly is getting out of the saddle after each turn. then toward the bottom Argentin kept looking back... a bad move. it slows you down when you do that. he should have just gone like mad and never looked over his shoulder. ditto on the Hincapie comment. Hincapie is a cry baby and can't, and never will, win in style of the likes of Kelly and the greats of the classics.
