Jesus did not die for our sins! Jesus came to teach us the truth, so that we would stop behaving in ways that harm ourselves and others. Jesus came to teach us the Way of (Unconditional) Love, which is also the Way of (Unconditional) Forgiveness. For that, Jesus did not needed to be crucified! The crucifixion of Jesus did not save us or wash away our sins, but it did succeed in making Jesus a martyr, which helped ensure that the teachings of Jesus lived on; that may be why God allowed crucifixion to be part of the destiny of Jesus. Jesus did came to save us, but from ourselves! From our own mistaken beliefs and lack of (Unconditional) Love, by teaching us another way. The events of the life of Jesus did not save anyone 2,000 years ago. No one can actually save us, but ourselves! No is freed from the prison of the Ego (the guardian of individuality/programming) by a Saviors act, least of all, a blood scrifice. The idea of making a blood scrifice, to win approval or Forgiveness from God, is pure superstition; a throwback to primitive humankind and their ancient religions. Jesus did not sacrifice his body for us, or for any reason. A Savior brings the teachings, and then people must save themselves by applying those teachings in their lives. No is saved without a commitment and some effort on their part to practice (Unconditional) Love and follow it, there is no other way. Jesus and others light the way! But each person must choose to step on the path of (Unconditional) Love and live it. I repeat! Only we can free ourselves from the prison of the Ego (the guardian of individuality/programming) and its mistaken beliefs.

Mt 10:34-10:39 is a liberating text. Sure, when you grow up in a good family with a loving mother, it may sound horrible. But imagine if not...and still being told, that you should love your family, because family is important and what not... For those who really seek revelation, nothing must be important at all. Not family, friends, nation, personal pride, wealth, religion, knowledge, honor...all these things are just man made concepts. Jesus is giving you the choice: Do you want this? Or do you want that? Will you walk the mile with me or not? Will you carry the cross with me or not? And this is not an easy to swallow pill. But I find it sooo liberating! You CAN leave your worldly chains behind.

God also told Saul to destroy ALL that belonged to the Amalekites (in other words, no booty). Unlike allah who tells muslims to kill apostates and those of other religion. Allah allows muslims to take war booty. Unlike YHWH who told Saul to destroy all of the Amalekites belongings. And Saul was rejected by GOD for taking the best cattle and sheep. So, let's be clear, YHWH, unlike allah, doesnt tell man to kill those who deny Him. He also didnt allow the Israelites to take booty nor slaves. Nor did He tell the Israelites that the Amalekites must accept God, pay a jizya, or be killed. You cannot compare YHWH to allah. The true living God is just.

They did not fear God. 19 When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance, blot out the memory of Amalek under heaven. Do not forget. That's why God told the Israelites to do that. And it happens in 1 Samuel 15. Read the whole chapters that i gave you, so you can understand what happened. Don't pick one verse and make that your argument. The problem of muslims is, they do their best, looking for bad things in the bible so they can justify their wicked quran. One muslim say something, the rest will keep repeating that same thing.

I like how this verse seems to have two meanings. One about families being divided (some members will turn to Jesus and some won't), the other about how Jesus's followers will be subject to violence. Of course, these two meanings overlap and in the context of the entire book it makes perfect sense. The message is that being a Christian is not going to be easy. Today Christians are not fed to lions, but they are routinely mocked and misrepresented - they are increasingly being ostricized from mainstream culture. That is kind of like a sword in itself. But instead of feeling like victims, those who understand this passage will be empowered by such difficulties.

I am a deist but eveyone know that Matthew 10:34 is referring to a conflict between families, not a jihad. Some members of the families would convert to Christianity while others would remain pagan and would participate in their persecution. The sword means division among families and not fighting. Of course, Muslims know that the Quran is so full of violence that they try to find whatever they can "to prove that Jesus was also violent"

My take on this and I am non-religious. When those words are spoken it is meant that he has come to upend the status quo. To peacefully, but vocally, rebel against all the corruption in the establishment and in mens' hearts. The sword is his "WORD" and the PEACE he seeks to disrupt is the norms of the corrupt that are, simply, accepted by everyone because they feel powerless to change it. If we were to follow his example, he means to speak out against injustices even when we know that there may be harsh consequences for doing so or fear of backlash. Not to turn a blind eye but to speak up and be counted. In contemporary language, he has come to cause a scandal and we should have the balls to do so as well.

@@wendiesel2606 I once held this view, but now I would stop at take a second to realize that failing to put Jesus first, puts you and all of your family in great danger. If you loved your family, and cared enough about your soul, you would put Jesus first, and encourage your family to do the same. After all, Jesus is the only way, truth, and life: to be apart from Him is to be apart from the ONLY PATH to LIFE, as well as apart from TRUTH. Do you suggest there is another way? Or that living a life full of lies and deception is not so bad? Or perhaps that a path to death is nothing to worry about? With that in mind, I would listen to what He says and teach the same. This particular teaching is very important, and if He hadn't said it, many would be asking and maybe remain confused about it. It saves souls. Don't think that loving your family and loving Jesus are completely seperate anyways, one of the ways you can show your love to Jesus is by loving your family and your neighbors. The very reason that anybody has an opportunity to have eternal life is because of Jesus, you at least owe it to Him to put Him first.

The reason the bible is taken out of context by anybody is because of the verse numbering system in it. Some people think a verse is a teaching rather than a sentence, or part of a sentence, which is part of a paragraph, which is part of a passage, which is part of an account(historical or otherwise), which is part of doctrine, which is part of a book, which is part of the bible. It's all about taking something out of context.

One quibble: "that's the problem with this verse" spoken at 15:56 mark. In all the effective discourse he gave he then assigned the problem to the verse and not the readers of the verse in an attempt to quickly wrap up his thought. It is obvious his intention is to prepare others for discussion with unbelievers, but his sarcasm preceding that statement may have gotten the better of him. What concerns you of what is with in the Revelation of Jesus Christ? There is the 2nd Revelation unto John the Apostle that could help clarify things for you. For our Father is making himself known. Mark of the Beast and sign of man has already been implemented long during Rome, we all bear it currently. There is another meaning of the term "your own household". Your own household consists of you own thoughts, feelings and opinions. this is the family, which dwells inside you. Who is Jesus and is He God to be worshipped In order to understand this we must see who is God according to Christianity. God is Trinity consisting of God the Fathet. His Word and His Spirit. Each is an entity. Bible tells us that God created everything through His Word and Spirit. He made the Angels to serve Him. Thereafter He created the universe and everything within it. Animals, plants, trees, birds, fish and all creatures. He also created the firmaments. Finally He created Man called Adam and woman called Eve. This was His most loving creation and so He made Adam the Stewart of all creation including the Angels. Lucifer was an archangel who was powerful and close to God. He did not like the command of God and had no intention to submit to the supremacy of Adam. All created things like Angels and human beings were given a free will. They may obey God or disobey Him. The result of disobedience will be sinful and hence the punishment was everlasting death. Lucifer and his angels disobeyed God's command and revolted against God. God defeated Lucifer and his angels and threw them on to the earth and await final judgment. Man and woman were ruling in paradise and all nature obeyed Adam. Lucifer also known as satan or devil requested God to test the humans for their obedience. God allowed satan to tempt the human beings. God had given a command to Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of knowledge lets they die. Satan with his lies and half truth tried to convince Adam that by eating from the tree of knowledge they would be like God. Adam did not fall for it but Eve succumbed to the temptation and through her Adam also ate and thus disobeyed God bringing upon them eternal death. Sin is disobedience to the command of God. Man was made to praise and worship God but he failed by his sin. Adam and Eve were thrown on to this earth bereft of all his powers. Nature earlier obedient to man was now against man. Man retained sinful knowledge by eating from the tree of knowledge. Now man and satan both were on earth. Satan has no power on man except the power of temptation and lies to convinve Adam and his descendents. Man has free will to either oppose the temptations or submit to it. Devil has lost his free will and hence can do only evil. The single agenda of the devil is to destroy all God creation. For this purpose he will try to use the knowledge of man to destroy man and all God's creation. The disobedience of satan and man was different. Satan disobeyed God without any temptation by his own free will knowingly and willfully whereas man was tricked by satan to disobey God. Hence there was a diffrence between the two sinfulness. God being a righteous God knows the difference and that is why He promised a messiah who would save man. A sinless messiah would be born of the human race who would take upon Himself all the sins of Adam and all his descendents and fulfill the law which ordained the punishment of eternal death. The mission of the messiah was to redeem mankind from sin and death and thereby bring about the salvation of mankind. Satan would try all his best to avert this act of redemption by any means. This messiah to be born was Jesus. Two thousand years ago Jesus was born of a virgin through the power of the holy Spirit of God. The Word of God who is also God according to the Trinity of God became incarnate and took flesh and was born as that sinless messiah. So this jesus was both perfect man and perfect God. Since He was God incarnate He deserves worship as Word of God. Since jesus was sinless man He had to fulfill His mission to die for all mankind and thus redeem all mankind and free them from sin and open the gates of heaven so that all the saved humanity could go back to God and be with God forever. Jesus the man and God could operate in their respective capacity while on earth. That is why jesus the God could do all miracle which God alone could do. He could give life, healing, peace, joy, forgiveness of sin and many more. Jesus the man on the other hand operated as a human being and was tempted in the dessert. Devil cannot tempt God. Further during the baptism of jesus it was the human jesus who was baptised and not God in jesus. Similarly the request by jesus in the garden of gethsemane to take away the cup of sorrow was by human jesus and not by the Word of God. Hence on many occasions during His life time we see jesus the Word of God and jesus the man operated seperately. This separation between jesus the man and Word of God was only during the earthly life of jesus. After resurrection the Word of God and the resurrected body of jesus become one inseperable as Son of God. However jesus the man had to fulfill His mission of dying for all humanity. The sin of disobedience was committed by humans hence punishment was also to be borne by human being. That is why jesus had to die as a human being and not as God. The Word of God left Jesus when He was arrested and taken for death by crucifixion. God cannot die and that is the reason why jesus cries out from the cross asking God why God the Word had forsaken Him. When Jesus accomplished his mission of salvation of all mankind He said IT IS FINISHED meaning thereby the Law has been fulfill and the punishment has been executed. All human being are liberated and they can use their free will to accept the salvation or reject. Those who reject it will go through the final judgment just like the judgment of satan. After jesus died on the cross God resurrected jesus by once again joining Him with the Word of God who had for a short time left jesus to fulfil His mission. Jesus is now in heaven filled with the Word of God along with His human nature. Now when we worship jesus it the Word of God. The human Jesus which is one with the Word of God cannot be separated. The human entity of jesus is our priest, prophet and king. God because of His obedience to God's command has raised jesus a name above all name and all earth and all creation will bow before Him. He will be the everlasting king who will rule the new heaven and earth after pronouncing judgment over all creation and satan. This is Jesus and since the Word of God is in Him all must worship Him He was begotten by the Spirit of God that is why He sddress God as Father. The Word of God in jesus makes Him divine and therefore we worship Him.

WHAT DOES THE HISTORIC CONTEXT OF "I WILL DENY YOU..." MEAN? I know that biblical texts do not apply to us today, but a great number believe they do, which is very infortunate. A few days ago I cam across a woman on KZbin who confessed she is TERRIFIED of being "denied" by Jesus Christ on the Day of Judgment. And she was referring to Matthew 10:33 How deos Matthew 10:33 read?... "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." But hang on, Peter denied his Lord, three times. Yes, but he repented, right? Matthew 10:33, however, as the context reveals, is about the Day of Judgment. That Day revealed what was going on inside the heads of the Jews. As a Jew, the Day of Judgment revealed where your faith lay. It revealed whether you continued to reckon your self as one still "in Adam" and thus, in mind "were found in Adam", or whether you reckoned your self as now one "in Christ" and "were found in Christ". If one with Christ, then judgment found you at harmony with Christ and obviously you "confessed Christ". Conversely, if not, then you "denied Christ". And so its my conviction that 'to contradict' is probably the better inferrence intended here in Matthew 10:33. "But whosoever shall contradict me before men, him will I also contradict before my father which is in heaven". It makes much more sense because Jesus could not deny himself for he had taken Israel upon himself, to seek and to save. There is more. We know that our Spirit is the one Spirit that is "God". Thus "God is within" and if God is within, then "heaven is within" just as Jesus declared. So in that case when Jesus refered to "Our Father which art in heaven", he was actually referring metaphorically to man's Spirit in union with God. Ergo, man's Spirit = "Our Father which art in heaven". God is not up in the sky; God is within. Now, Jesus was one Spirit with the Father (Jn 17). "Jesus in you" was all the same as "God in you". Hence, "if you deny me in you, then I in you, will deny you (denying me in you). As a Jew on the Day of Judgment, denying Christ, your own mind condemned you. Jesus, or Father God, within (via Spirit) working on your conscience created an intense inner conflict, bringing guilt and shame and bitter anguish. Notwithstanding, Jesus could also have said "I (in you) will carry on loving you". And isn't that what enabled Peter to recover himself?
