I love your teaching. I am a pastor and teaching verse by verse has been the greatest evolution of my ministry. I started that as a youth pastor over a decade ago and found it moved the people more than any cute props or slogans I could come up with. I have grown up in and pastor in a Pentecostal denomination, Church of God Cleveland TN. We believe and teach, like you, true believers cannot be possessed by demons, but can oppressed by them. Again, I love your teaching. God bless you and your church.

I appreciate this pastor giving of his time to explain verse by verse each book of the bible. I have learned so much and enjoy listening to his studies on my own time. What a wonderful resource.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17: Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple.

On the subject of whether Christians can be possessed, not only did Jesus himself not say that it was possible, some of His teaching and predicated on the understanding that it *isn't* possible. Jesus talks about the Holy Spirit dwelling in us when we follow him (and the Holy Spirit *IS* God, as one of the Trinity) and He told a parable about a demon leaving a person for a while and finding the person empty when it got back, so it brought a friend along. Clearly Jesus was saying that had the Holy Spirit been dwelling in the person, the demon couldn't have done that. (The parable seems to also be a metaphor about the futility of not doing stuff to prevent falling back into besetting sin, amongst other things, but there's a literal component to it too).

I really don't understand this whole thing of satan attempting Jesus. Jesus is God, so satan offered Jesus something that already belongs to him, because he is God. Pretty much like, hey I'll give you what's already yours if you do this or that.... How does that make sense!?!

the devil was lying. He lies all the time. It’s a cautionary tale for us tho. The devil will offer us things. But it’s always a lie.

Jesus did that for our benefit. He behaved like a powerless but faithful human, showing a perfect example to us.

It’s because Jesus was in a physical, fallen body. The physical body is what gets temped. You can often times separate the desires of the spirit and the flesh. Jesus was God in a body that had the same temptations and inclinations we’re subject to, but He was perfect. You can suppose He perfected righteousness in the flesh. His righteousness was perfect, so perfect that He didn’t sin. Sin is a choice, too. He was offered the choice, but chose not to. Suppose you were starving and haven’t eaten for 40 days, your flesh would desire food, with irritability, at any cost. Jesus’s physical body was under great strain. Also, obeying a thought from Satan is evil, if you think about it. The offer was not from God but was from Satan. I would say we can tell the difference of when thoughts are coming from Satan or God, even if it’s conserning things that aren’t usually considered sin. But to obey Satan in this instance would have been imperfect and wrong. Evil even. He chose to not even consider Satan’s offer- and said you must live off the word and guidance of God only.

That happened in order for us to be example, cuz he will test you the same way but now you know what Christ did so you can do the same when the devil offered you riches or test you so you can fight him with a word of God as Yeshua did.

Jesús is God the son, and there is God the father, Satan practically wanted Jesus to do the same thing that he did to the angels when they were in heaven and to Adam and Eve , but I get your question. Jesus is part of the trinity, there are three persons. It’s not like the father came down , notice Jesus always prayed to the father and even when he ascended into heaven it says he is sitting at the right hand.
