Seeing him now makes me feel old. I loved Matthew Good Band back in the day. Still do.

Back in the 90s, I snagged a phone interview with the Matthew Good Band for the paper I was working for at the time. I just assumed I would be talking to Matt. Instead, I got Rich Priske (bassist) instead. He said he was sorry that I couldn't talk to Matt, but Matt was so mercurial, the interview would probably devolve into something terrible and Rich wanted to save me from that. But whatever, I got free tickets. Took my then-14-year-old son to the show and he just thought they were incredible. He becomes a huge fan. Anyway, long story short, my son ends up working at Starbucks in Vancouver years later, and in comes Matt Good, post-diagnosis and on his meds. Nicest, most normal guy you could ever meet, according to my son, and the two went on to have a chatting relationship whenever Matt came in for a coffee.

George, thank you for helping me understand Matt. I seen him in a concert in Regina years ago and he was mad and walked off stage. I held a grudge for years but now I understand. My apologies to Matt and oh yea, I never stopped listening...

Great interview. I've been a fan since I scored a demo copy of Underdogs off Bruce Allen's trash can in the 90's.

@Daniel_V yah, I was working construction on the building Bruce Allen's office was in, same building as the old "Town Pump" in Gastown, saw alot of cds in the trash, listened to alot of them, and the demo of underdogs was the one that stood out. Still got it.

Wow! ☺ I just have to say that I would love to sit down with this guy and have coffee or something! I really think that he is quite grounded and his mind,weather he has to take meds for his head or not, interests me beyond belief. I remember standing in line at the old pacific coliseum back in the day when I was a teenage girl, waiting to see him open for Aerosmith, and his mom was in front of us so proud but also very humble!! I still remember her saying that she was also excited to see them The Matthew good band although she said that it is so different when it's your son up there on the stage, and she was thinking the whole time Oh God Matt please don't trip or something! !!!😊still think that it was so awesome to meet her after chatting with her in line!! she seemed like an amazing mother and soooooo supportive of her kid!! NO matter what! like they say shit happens everyday!!! it's life, sometimes things are so up and then we all end up coming down just a little!!! like I said he just seems so grounded and I'm sure that this woman had and has a lot to do with it!! So Cool!! Peace Out😉

The energy from when the band was still around was definitely lost with the break up. I'm just glad I got to enjoy them live several times before he went solo. He's freed up as an artist going solo though.

Wow. Who is the interviewer? He really knew how to relate to Matt w/o condescending. Since I don't get Canadian TV programs I'm sure he's some household name, nonetheless, nice interview. Was there more from this same appearance? Who was the person he referred to and then said, "there I've said it on national television..." ? I couldn't make out the name.

GregMHouse Matt Good is suggesting Justin Trudeau doesn't have the social and intellectual capacity of his brother Sacha - and saying he lacks the political acumen to pull off the kind of leadership Canada needs to be the best country possible. This interview is a few years old. Justin is now the leader of the Liberal Party. Sacha is a journalist/documentarist. Keith probably likes Justin as a leader.
@AVirtualTourist10 жыл бұрын
Aika24 Justin has excellent political acumen. And Matt says nothing about social or intellectual capacity. Justin DOES NOT however have any of the humanitarian qualities that reflect the position he wishes to attain. Unlike his father, Justin fails miserably when it comes to translating the effect of his political decisions and agendas to the day to day lives of Canadians. His ethics and morals are questionable. He evinces a lack of empathy, and behaves as though he lives in some kind of bubble that is disconnected from reality. It's almost as if throughout his entire life, up until the last few years, he had only ever been playing a computer game that simulated human interaction on a very rudimentary level and expected to be able to jump into the real world without a second thought. Sacha has made sacrifices, conscious efforts to witness first-hand the effects that political decisions have had on individual people, at great personal risk I might add.
