The first thing people need to know about getting and staying sober, is to STOP "battling", "fighting", or "struggling". All of those false notions keep a person focused on the substance, instead of focusing on living differently! How do I know this?...because I fought it for a decade and failed every time I said "enough". The moment we SURRENDER, is the moment the door of recovery cracks open. Peace!

My Grandmother, who was born around 1908, was an alcoholic. She spent all of her adult life in & out of what we’re then called sanitariums. She was also bipolar, which was at that time called manic depression & was poorly understood. It makes me sad to think of her having to deal with such experiences alone, with little support or effective treatment. I admire & am grateful that we now have people like Matthew willing to share their stories & provide hope for reaching the other side.

You WILL help so many people and this interview is going to open so many doors to the way out .Because of you so many people will be pulled out of their suffering and anguish. I pray they have the strength and support of " Friends and family " My son wasn't so fortunate, but he is no longer in pain. God bless you Matty, and yes I say Matty, cuz after your courageous interview, I felt a sense of closeness to you. I will always remember this. Thank you so much. Keep faith, strength, and know you are loved.

Now this is a man who has something to tell. A story worth being told and a book worth being written and read. Deep, honest, brutal, authentic and still brilliantly funny. And the most important thing: He has written it by himself instead of using some ghostwriters. Now that is a book. Chapeau Matthew, you amazing human being.

Perfectly put, I was going to write the same thing... As a lover of Friends since middle school in the early 2000's, and someone who's struggled with alchohol, and opiate addiction years ago this hits hard... my father was a big AA guy, he was bad himself, really bad. I'm so proud of Mathew for this.. what an absolute trailblazer. He doesn't need to make money, he's doing this to help others, and redeem his regretful life.

Yeah, it’s great. By the end of “Friends,” all eight were making $1MILLION/week for doing nothing (and costing more than $8MILLION/week was partly why the show was cancelled, the eight got greedy). He can afford rehab. What about those who don’t have all that money in the bank, but are also suffering, and don’t have the revenue of a book to fall back on?

Glad he's overcome his addiction, but fck him for wishing death on Keanu Reeves (one of the actual sweetest guys in Hollywood). Especially considering that Keanu still grieves the loss of his dear friend River Phoenix and cannot speak about him in the past tense. Matthew Perry wishing Keanu was dead instead of River or Heath Ledger is just like, wtf.. Why would you even say that?!
