It's been a bonkers season for Matthew Savoie. He split time between the CSSHL's Rink Hockey Academy and the WHL's Winnipeg Ice and then donned the red and white for Canada at the Youth Olympics. Savoie is a literal human blur on the ice and is regarded as one of the best prospects to come along in years.

My first question when it comes to young talents: "WHEN DID HE HIT PUBERTY?". I saw a picture of Sovoie when he was 15...He could probably grow a beard if he wanted to. Extremely early puberty is not a good thing. What will happen when the other players catch up...

My thoughts exactly, and that's also why I think the draft at 18 is too early. Too many prospects dominate at a young age due to early puberty only to slow down once everyone catches up.

@@jeremytherrien-watt2972 Agree 100%. With all the sugar and protein in the diet nowadays some guys hit puberty as early as 10 years old. In Sweden those with early puberty has an enormous advantage in national teams and world juniors championships for years. Powerplays etc. Normal puberty guys will not catch up until the early 20ies. Lafrenière and Byfield had a very early puberty. Then you dominate for years in the juniors. If I were a scout I would be very aware if the importance of puberty. Wonder if they are?

He's 5'10" so he's short for a hockey player in the NHL. He's only 16 though so he can reach 6'0" by the time he's done growing. Possible even more. I was 5'8" at 17 and now I'm 6'0" at 24 (probably done growing now though). Depends if he's a late bloomer like I was.

I watch these 2 a lot since early 2018 and you're right, Savoie is solid defensively. Bedard isn't that great defensively but he's on a whole different level than Savoie offensively. Bedard shot is deadly. He has magic hands and even tho he's not as good of a skater as Savoie, Bedard is an elite elite skater. Bedard also has size on his side while Savoie is kinda undersized.

Not faster, and not as good at skating. Lambert might be a safer pick, but Savoie has more potential, and Savoie although riskier isn't even that risky.
