NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Matthew Stafford wants the Rams to modify his contract. D-Mac and Travis discuss if the Rams should accommodate their Pro Bowl quarterback. From what I think, the Stafford situation has him signed for 160mil. He is guaranteed 130mil. He wants more guaranteed money closer to the 160mil face value of the contract. He deserves it. Boston Scott is a solid RB who can rotate. Speaking of returns, Atwell’s injury risk is lowered with the new rules. Keep him, we don’t have a lot of speed. Even Trammel would probably do well but they wouldn’t let him return (even with 20 yards of space). Time again to ask when will the team actually treat Ben Skowronek the same as others who do not produce. The team needs to let him go and make room for some other talent.

If Staff wants to extend his deal then he should have the $ associated with that contract in TODAY’s $$. QB salaries increase more than any other positions and that changes multiple times per year, every year. When you have a top 5 QB, you need to know he will want to be paid as such. There are no 4-year contracts. That’s for salary cap distribution purposes. Salaries are basically year to year or 2 years maybe 3 depending on position. An ILB isn’t going to salary adjust nearly as often as QB. Get 3-4 years of commitment from Staff, adjust the salary and guaranteed $ accordingly, then get ready to do it all again in 2 years if he wants to keep playing and is playing at this high level.
