Oddly enough I got reintroduced to this tune because it was used as bumper music on a local talk station.... took me DAYS to find it online. Saw him at a festival in Atlanta back in the day along with Soup Dragons, The Connels, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cramps, B52s, and a bunch of others.... I ended up in the first aid tent... remember kids, beware the brown acid.

They sold out several consecutive nights and I went and saw at least 4 of the shows. This lineup of Sweet's band was INCREDIBLE! One of the best live touring bands I've ever seen and they played the song lineup from the Girlfriend album just flawlessly. Oh, the great 90s memories when bands were up and coming a mile a minute. Nothin like turning into a drawing and finding your fantasy anime girl who is a REAL um, drawing. Cool riffs Matt.

A heavier than gravity, harder than concrete, face-melting guitar masterpiece.

A shame that the song does not have more views than it does, such a great sounding song.

You don't realize how goddamn dark this song is until you really listen to its last line.
@seakalix42975 жыл бұрын
I prefer the dark stuff. Superdeformed, Hollow, Silent City, Devil With The Green Eyes, Trade Places, and Lost My Mind were always favs of mine.

Well, if that's what you want to make of it, it becomes your sentiment, not the artists. That's what they do- leave it up to you, make it personal for you that way. Even when songs are motiovated by the artrists' feelings or experiences, they are very often making it open for your personal interpretation so that the song means something you YOU. And then you buy the album.

When this video came out, I had a few issues of Cobra that were released in the US and I freaked right out because I had no idea that there was a movie at the time. As a kid, I felt a real connection with this guy and his music influenced my High School years.

Obviously, Matthew Sweet is a big fan of the Classic Japanese Anime from the 1980's ; ''Space Hunter Cobra.'' Good taste there Matt.

I first saw this video late night on MTV back in the 90's. Even without the Space Cobra references, this song Fng rocks!
