Thanksgiving is the middle child of all holidays... it’s totally overlooked and outshined by all the other holiday siblings. Thanksgiving gets like 2 days a year, everyone else gets at least 2 weeks, and Christmas gets 11 months. Thanks for honoring the middle child!

@@noahsmith3654 I’m so happy you asked. A lot of people will say that by doing good works, they can get to heaven. However, this is not at all the case. There is only ONE way to get to heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). See, a long time ago, Jesus came to this earth to sacrifice his own life in place of ours. Everyone has sinned (done wrong). It doesn’t matter how much or how “big” or “small” the sin was, every sin separates us from God. God cannot have us with Him if we are sinful. And the consequence for sin is an eternity in hell. “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23a). However, God loves us so much, and He simply couldn’t bear the thought of being separated from us forever. So, He sent Jesus, His only Son, to come and die the most horrible death (death on a cross) in our place. Three days later, Jesus rose again and now lives forever with God. His rising again from death meant that Jesus conquered death and sin forever. Jesus’ death was a payment for our sin. The only thing we need to do is understand that we have sinned and nothing but Christ can bring us back to God. Then, we pray and ask God for forgiveness and accept Jesus’ gift of salvation. It’s a simple as that. When we do, we are granted an eternity (forever and ever and ever!) in heaven with our Lord! We also have the honor of Christ living inside of our hearts. Jesus took our place willingly so that we would not have to die, but that we would have eternal life. “For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:3-7). Works do not get us into heaven. Like a stain on a paper, nothing you can do can remove that stain. You need a whole new paper. When you accept God’s gift of salvation, you get a new paper. He gives you a new heart. Also, when you accept, you’ve secured a place in heaven forever, regardless of what happens after that. You don’t have to keep “renewing” your salvation. You don’t lose it. Ever. That’s the power of God’s love. You are loved before you accept the gift. You don’t have to earn His love. The reason we can get to heaven is by His love. He sent Jesus because He loves us. But He can’t have us in heaven if we are not purified by the blood, because then He wouldn’t be a just or righteous or perfect God. If you take anything away from this, it’s that God LOVES you, and Jesus DIED for you, and if we accept Jesus into our hearts and the gift that He’s holding out, we can go with Jesus to heaven in that final day, or when He calls us home, whichever comes first. Praise God for His love and wonderful gift of salvation!!!! The Love of God “The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell; The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin. When hoary time shall pass away, And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall; When men who here refuse to pray, On rocks and hills and mountains call; God's love, so sure, shall still endure, All measureless and strong; Redeeming grace to Adam's race The saints' and angels' song. What do we have to do in order for Jesus to take us to heaven?

@@noahsmith3654 We have to believe that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead. (Romans 10:9-10.) Jesus is the only way to get to heaven (John 14:6) but if we believe that he came and died for us to be saved and we ask him to forgive us of our sins and surrender our lives to him we can be saved. That means repenting of our sins (which basically means turning away from), asking him to forgive us of all our sins, to come make us new, and cultivating a relationship with him and reading his Word so we know what are sins and what he wants us to do so we A) don’t commit the sins anymore, B) can obey his words. He says those that love him keep his commandments, and the biggest commandment is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength” and the second is like it, “love your neighbor as yourself”. Confession of sins and accepting Jesus as our Lord is the only way to get to heaven, but it’s so much more than just a ticket to heaven either. It’s a full life of surrender and obedience to him, and a full life of learning and relationship with him. He has so many good promises for us and good things for us. He has grace for us and wants to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us and make us new. It all starts with believing he sent Jesus to die for us, believing that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead, and asking him to come into our lives, forgive our sins, and be Lord over our lives. If you don’t know how to do that you can google many “Sinner’s Prayers”, but honestly I think you can just let it come from the heart. But I do highly highly recommend getting a Bible and finding somebody that can help you understand how to start studying it. I personally use NIV, it’s a little easier to understand. My pastor uses ESV. I hope that helps. 💜

In Acts Chapter 16, when the the Philippian jailer asked the apostle Paul and Silas the exact same question ("Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"), they responded "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." (Acts 16:30-31 KJV) As to which version of Bible: personally , I use the 1611 King James Version (also sometimes referred to as the Authorized Version) because of how closely accurate it is to the original Hebrew, Greek, and Latin texts. Also, great reading for new believers: I would recommend starting out with reading St. Johns Gospel and Romans.
