This is just amazing and much needed!! I would really like it if the architectural and interior photographers in India come together and form a community. There are so many things happening in the industry, here the photographer's job has been taken over by Social media agencies as they offer it as a package at lowest cost and all etc. Would love to be part of this call just to understand the ethics and get clarity on basics!

Thanks a lot for this video. It will help me to better rate my work price here in Brazil.

Bummer to have missed this, but great to see the topic talked openly with everyone. While we all have our own tastes, the more we find a baseline, we can help set fair and clear expectations for clients in the industry. To compliment the pricing structure, I think a lot of photographers would benefit from pricing ranges for actual value of the services.

Absolutely loved this video. It is so incredibly helpful. Genuinely like the concept of getting a bunch of like-minded photographers together to have a conversation on how they do things.

Mine is most similar to Austin Baker: I take as many good shots as possible in the time and supply proofs. Full day rate includes 15 final shots, half day incudes 7 shots, with a per image fee for any beyond that. Three points no one mentioned... Firstly when explaining creative + image fee structure to a client, I 'sell' it by saying they're only paying for the images that are of most value to them. This is particularly relevant to me as I mostly shoot without my client on site. Secondly, this structure covers my butt if I underestimate or go over on shoot time. E.g. I once quoted a half day for a job that actually took a full day. Client ended up using 20 images meaning they paid a per image fee for 13 of them. Final invoice was roughly the same as if I'd charge them a full day. This is also another selling point for the client... If I'm unsure how long a shoot will take, I'm usually quite comfortable quoting it as a half day which makes it seem more affordable to them. Finally I keep the proofs and RAW images on file. Sometimes a few months down the line my client will need some more images and get in touch to purchase further shots from the proof sheet. This is obviously nice for me and they like it as it means they can use their budget flexibly. Some personal context for all this. I'm still a relative newly (4 years) so I'm not working with super high end clients or the very best equipment and my prices are 'mid level' I believe. I also never scout - not because I'm against it, but I don't believe my clientele would be willing to pay the extra and the projects I'm shooting don't really require it.

Excellent video! Sure wish I could have joined, I'll try to make the next one. There are many nuances to pricing and you need to be able to clearly define your position and how apply your model to different circumstances.

Wow. I need to figure out how to bring my market up. I couldn't find a client to pay $20 an image. You guys are great!

It's very important information shared here, for those managing flat day rates, how do you manage taxes?
