If you change your curves contrast layer to the Luminosity blend mode, it won’t increase the color saturation as much. Then you might not need that last Hue/sat layer.

I do a lot of editing like this... (perhaps I need to work on my lighting techniques more!), and rather than painting in color layers with a brush like you do here, I lean HEAVILY on the excellent object select tool that was added to Photoshop in the last year or so. It rarely makes a perfect selection, but it's a huge time saver. Probably would have done a solid job selecting the sofa, table and art piece, for example.

Very nice Matthew! By the way, I like the weird funky shadows from that wall-art piece. But, of course, it’s your client’s call.

The best way to colour in like you did with the tables is frequency separation and having a new layer in between for colouring that cool colour shift to a warmer tone like you did. Love the videos as always. 👍

Nice tutorial Matt… I like some of the tips on correcting the color in the reflections. What about the fireplace? Was there any discussion with the designer about having the fire on to cozy up the look? Also I know you mentioned it was raining outside so getting a flash outside the window probably would be ideal but a challenge. Though I’ve done a Ziploc bag over a flash before in the rain and it worked out pretty well.

If it had been a light rain - maybe. But at times it was a torrential downpour. And in that kind of weather, I'm not gonna lug flashes, stands, and modifiers outside...but that's just me. And we didn't discuss anything specific about the fireplace.

Enjoyed watching the process! I will say the sensor dust spot is bothering me a tad ;). Great video

Just turn off all the lights and take multiple long exposure shots Blend all the natural light/artificial light/flash light photos together in "screen" mode in Photoshop

What about shooting from outside the window with the scrim? Then mask it out?

It was pouring outside. I wouldn’t have been comfortable lugging any kind flash or equipment out in that kind of rain.

What flash power setting do you use?
@MatthewAPhoto26 күн бұрын
It varies a lot. I don't have a "standard setting" for flash
