Versteeg complaining about JT being out there for a defensive zone faceoff at the end of the game, when he literally ended up winning 4 faceoffs in a row and clearing the puck from the zone with 15 seconds left which led to the Kampf empty net chance is actually insane to me. Another option for the D situation is to dress 7 D and 11 forwards. Take Robertson or maybe Holmberg out and let Matthews/Tavares/Marner take extra shifts. I know that makes line juggling awkward but then you would have Brody there if you need him in certain situations. Robertson would be the best option to take out I think, Keefe is only playing him 6-7 minutes anyways and has to hide him.

I'm really concerned that Keefe thinks Marner did a good job last night. It felt like Marner didn't have much of an impact at all. Domi was out there busting his ass, Matthews and Tavares both were busting their ass. The D were decent. Samsonov made some key saves. Like I didn't see Marner did much at all.

I don't think it is fair to say that Matthews is the only one to elevate their game, I think the 4th line looks better than they have ever looked right now. Not saying it's the greatest 4th line, wont score a lot, but they seem to be in the offensive zone about 80% of the time, they set up offensive zone face offs and I think have drawn a couple penalties (or at least Reaves was on the ice at once I remember). I am pleasantly surprised by them, I thought they would have to be hidden and play like 6-7 minutes, but they can eat up 10-11 and even hold their own when they get trapped against a top line.

Yes I agree the 4th line with Reeves should bump up to the 3rd line. Depends what Boston's 3rd line is though. When I say line I mean the Boston defense pair. Bruins defenseman Peeke got injured I thought with a hit by Reeves but Peeke was injured from a shot to the hand. Bruins are shaken in their boots with big thunderous hits by Reeves a one man wrecking crew on playoff fore checking.

The discussion about Marner forgets that Keefe is matching JT-Marner-Knies against Pasta's line. They did a good job in game 1, and they had 1 miscue in game 2. If that line can contain Pasta, that lets Matthews's line go vs whoever Boston sends out, advantage Leafs. If Willie comes back the third line gets a chance to make a difference. And if line 4 keeps playing well then Boston has a dilemma on who their L4 plays against. Sure, we want Marner to be more impactful offensively, but if they can keep Pasta off the board, the Leafs have the best chance of winning.

Too bad O’Reilly didn’t resign, he would have made us so elite and balanced offensively on top of the fact his defensive ability would have been a huge difference. Imagine two scenarios. They should go with the lineup that won game #1 if Nyls is back. Play Brodi if he's not. The reason Brodi has not played is because he has played poorly in those mentioned situations where he's needed. If Nylander is not in could be another chance for Brodi since there is more of a chance for them to loose game #2 without Nylander. Boston may solve the game 1 loss where it is more evident perhaps that the Leafs will continue to struggle in those areas. Boston may be ready to manipulate those areas and zones and have a huge feast.
