I might be wrong, but I think what's misleading about the term 5G when it comes to certain models, is it can't support all version's of 5G, I think the Velvet won't support the mmwave of 5G if I'm not mistaken, so if I'm right, you have to ask yourself, why pay more for 5G phones unless your absolutely sure in your location, it's going to be worth it? Keep in mind, mmwave does not work indoors as well,

Nice you got the g8x I think that the g8x is a good phone cuz it's bigger than the G8 but the v50 still kills it with the pixel and 1440 peak quality I am on my first v50 I'm buying another one when this one goes out because it's going to update to Android 11 💯🔥

I have a G8X it's fantastic. Stereo speakers are average,battery life is pretty good and performance is close to top tier. The camera is AMAZING with Gcam. However while the stock video recording is good,the stock camera app puts out fairly flat photos. Great phone though,I would recommend it to anyone who's considering it, especially if you can get the dual screen with it.

I literally spent a good amount of time comparing these 2 just yesterday; the same day you dropped the vid. Crazy timing. I've been thinking about picking up one to use as a music player/back up phone to my OP7Pro. After some time, and with the help of your vid, I think I'm gonna go with the G8. I kinda wanted something on the smaller side and I think it would be perfect. Side note and something your viewers should be wary of, and definitely the thing that solidified my choice of the G8, was the fact that my MVNO (Mint Mobile) is not compatible with the V50. I'd guess with all the changes and upgrades going on with network infrastructure, this would also be the case with other carriers. Mint runs off of T-Mobile, so maybe the V50 wouldn't work with them either. Not sure. I recently had to switch from Cricket to Mint because Cricket suspended my account for an "incompatible" phone because of all the network changes going on. So I'd probably check with the carrier just to make sure the V50 will work. If it wasn't for all that, I just might have decided on it over the G8🤷‍♂️ Thanks man!

I've been having a hard time deciding between these two and I might go for LG G8 as well as there have been several complaints on Amazon about how the unlocked LG V50 might not work on AT&T soon. But I am surprised to hear that you had issues with MVNO (Mint Mobile) as well with LG V50. I am also currently on Mint mobile & unless I plan to change my phone service, LG V50 is a risky buy. Too bad I wanted to get LG V50 for its bigger battery and better camera.

@@skm5878 Yeah, I was surprised by the V50 being not compatible with Mint, as well. My mainstay- the Oneplus 7 Pro 5G is not on AT&Ts whitelist, but is still accepted on Mint, so I thought they would allow that one for sure (I think both the OP 7 Pro 5G and the V50 5G were both originally Sprint releases..). Either way, it seems for the time being, if you're someone who like to buy their own device from places like Amazon, or Ebay it'd be wise to check with carriers first. With all the changes in network infrastructure going on, and all. I agree about the V50 probably being a better phone, overall. I just really want a smaller phone these days. Especially if it's just going to be a back-up/music player. Good luck on the phone hunt!

Pretty sure both do, but I would make sure to check with your carrier. Because that's where it really matters. I recently switched carriers because I was told my perfectly volte capable phone was incompatible with their service. So I switched over to a service where my phone _was_ compatible. Oddly enough, my new carrier (Mint Mobile) isn't compatible with the V50. But is with the G8. So, I'll probably be picking up a G8 here pretty soon.

better to go for the v60 instead.. and it should be cheaper now than the velvet or at least similar price.. v60 is a better phone and an actual upgrade overall compared to the velvet which was a weaker processor which is said to perform closer to the 845 in the v40.. v60 has 865 so yea

Don't risk it on AT&T with that G8... I'm constantly having issues with calls that I didn't have with the G6- and mine is the Sprint version. I would look for a factory unlocked or different carrier unlocked version.

They both use a heat pipe but the V50's is better. I'm guessing the speed difference is the slightly faster storage in the V50 and the better temps.
