I would absolutely love to see a series on your main channel of you making this space an awesome workshop. You could build a wall, workbenches, a dust collection system, etc. and that would make for great videos. I think it would be really rewarding to see this space taking shape step by step.

Good call on painting the door frame. Looks nice. I'm jealous of your backup maker space in the basement. I have to heat my garage with propane to work in the winter. Although our winters here in Seattle are balmy and tropical compared to winter in your neck of the woods.

Maybe making a hinged door opening to the inside of the duct would be better. It would provide a way to direct the flow to the shop and cut off the rest of the house at the same time. It would have to be the width of the duct of course.

I found that a light water sanding of oil based paints can then provide acrylic paints with a base, however, it's dependent on temperature. Too much heat makes it impossible to paint it.

With so many random pieces/parts/etc that are potentially usable in a project, how do you store them? Do you have electrical pieces/parts separate from pieces of say...tin or rubber pieces? I ask because when I go to find something I need I struggle locating it. You always seem to have what you need i.e. 8mm rod or something else as rare. Hope that makes sense. I just need a better set up for my random but usable widgets.

Too bad there wasn't space for a pocket door, though a rolled up, segmented divider might work just as well. Though really at that point a folding door would do the same job with less work. Aaaand you used the solid door for more storage. Touche sir. Touche.

Hanging stuff on doors quickly becomes annoying. Heavy items make the door unwieldy and put wear on the hinges (my father had the brilliant idea once to put a sledge hammer rack on the workshop door...). Light items fall off or rattle as you move the door. Since this door is only rarely opened it should not be a problem. Do you not get frustrated by constantly having the right tool in the _other_ workshop? It drives me mad and no matter how many tools I accumulate to deal with this the problem only seems to get worse.

That oil paint was tough stuff, they don’t make it like that anymore that’s for sure.
@HickLif3
@HickLif3 6 жыл бұрын
In todays world that could be part of why they don't make it like that anymore, it's all about money. If you make a product that forces the customer to repaint in 5 years as opposed to 10 then you are potentially making twice the money. Make a vehicle that when it needs repairs the owner can't work on it (or its a massive pain to do so) and you have another stream of money. Make things so that they work just long enough for the warranty to run out and then it crashes and then make the parts and repairs cost more than the product itself

There actually is no difference between latex and acrylic paints because there is no latex in latex paints. Let me explain.
