Honorable comedian appears to be the most excellent rollerskater of all times. Charlie's way of stunting & tumbling is absolutely unparallelled & unique. Timeless movie contains numerous hilarious gags. Although hardly any story, it shows all the master's mimic and acrobat qualities, in his world of vaudeville & slapstick-comedy, for the ladies & the love of it. Have been watching it for many times, but that guy's still making me laugh!

Hahaha ! - qui a remarqué, que la "dame" costaude n'a qu'un patin jusqu'à ~ 11mn15, puis en recouvre tout à coup miraculeusement un 2 ème vers 11mn20? (chorégraphies exceptionnelles, surtout celles désastreuses en patatras !!) (notez le policier à terre "enfourché" au passage par Charlot façon grand écart... { ~ 12mn 30}) Quant à la fuite /sortie... : ROYALE ! Merci pour ce post ! Un régal. 😊 🤗🤗

This is the Rink, a silent film made in 1916, was Charlie Chaplin's eighth film for Mutual Films made at his age 27. The film co-starred Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Henry Bergman, and Albert Austin, and is best known for showcasing Chaplin's roller skating skills. Charles Chaplin was talented in many things. Surely the film had post-editing, but it was still a masterpiece.

Thank Heaven for the preservation & availability of the Van Beuren music scored Mutuals sound effects and all, even Chaplin would have admitted they fit the Mutuals much better than anything he could have composed. These new scores (e.g. Mortilla, Carl Davis, etc.) make one lethargic...To prove it, I've shown children, for their first exposure to Chaplin, both versions of a Mutual comedy, first with a modern score, within a minute they became restless, bored, & wanted to leave the room. Het speciale van Charlies, films,uit de bewegingen kan men de bedoeling raden al zijn de films zonder geluid. In Easy street is vooral zijn rol, maar ook de rol van de kampioen straatvechter boeiend. Ik hoor vaak dat men de films van hem technisch incompleet vindt. Onzin. Ik hoop dat men er belangstelling voor houdt.
