Dear Matthew Just trying to revive some basic piano playing 58 years on...starting with Bach's Prelude 1. Found this fascinating. Many thanks Marek

Grew up on the Beatles. I was 10 when they finalized their breakup (1974), even though they were really broken up in 1970. They were everywhere when I was a kid: lunch boxes, cartoons, movies, and of course all over terrestrial radio. There music was the cornerstone of much of what I learned to play early on, and they are still the bread of butter of much of today's music. I was lucky enough to have that as a framework of knowledge, and though that was a time before I learned theory, I could tell by ear what was right and wrong with notes and chords as I played. Good stuff, great video.

Thanks, it’s interesting to look back at the period of music retrospectively! It very much has shaped modern popular music. 😊

its crazy how sometimes for these geniuses not knowing reading and writing sheet music can mean freedom. there is a saying "you must know the rules before you break them", but I guess it doesn't affect this level of talent. The songwriters of ABBA couldn't read sheet music either.

I think for some people it means they learn the rules by observation rather than formally being told or learning the typical patterns through sheet music, but no doubt Paul McCartney will know a lot of the theory he needs to write 😊

Alright, question: if I wrote a music piece for you, would you play it?

Great video! Could you do a reaction/lesson of Paul playing and singing solo piano in "One Hand Clapping"? I think you'll like his piano skills and the stories he tells in between, here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roKYdZmHhrlnr7Msi=bmcJLe0YEJcronq7
