Little bit of info on the patterns in this piece: The big “keyboard smashes” at the bottom end are meant to represent a drum; the big “arrays” (I guess?) are a sort of background noise; the “smashes” at the top end is meant to be a hi-hat of sorts. They are meant to add a sense of other instruments while only being a piano.

I really enjoyed watching this video, you have some really interesting things to say about this type of music. To answer your question at 6:24, this was an entirely original composition by HDSQ. If you're looking for some more black midi videos to react to, I would recommend Pi by TheSuperMarioBros2 at 3.1415 million notes, 9KX2 by TheSuperMarioBros2 at 18 million notes, Ouranos by HDSQ and The Romanticist at 24.3 million notes, or a midi called Unify at 15.6 million notes by a whole team of people, and was started by HDSQ. It showcases a lot of "blacking" styles by people all over the world. (Unify is one of the longer midis at over 17 minutes, but sounds amazing). I'd also recommend some black midi videos that show the sheet music for them (I have a few hehe). I think you'd enjoy them.

No one is going to comment at the fact that the numbers that came flying down from the screen in the MIDI is the first 7 digits of τ, which is essentially π times 2: 6.283185 The note count even symbolizes this: The MIDI has 6,283,185 notes, which again are the first 7 digits of τ.

I like the fact that a lot of the note art incorporates circles in it's patterns, because tau (also known as pi times 2) is the circumference of a circle with radius 1. It's a cool detail :)

I don't think spamming the note is cheating, I really think the different tone of a key being pressed at such a high frequency is important to the voice of that note. Howrver I feel like many of the notes are soft and purely for the visual art. This is close to cheating in my opinion, but it also turns this into a visual art piece, the removal of which would arguably also detract from the song.

how do you recognize chords

I can usually work out chords by how they sound next to each other (using relative pitch) so if I know the first chord is B minor..I can hear that the next one is A major because of how it sounds after B minor. It’s down a tone and has a major quality of sound…I don’t know if that makes any sense 😂
