Matting and signing my first limited edition photograph. I printed 30 total; 25 8x10s, and 5 16x24s. I made this photograph for a friend. He inspired me to start selling limited editions of my work. Thanks Alex.

The print should never be attached to the mat. It should be attached to an archival backing with archival tape hinges.

What was the tip size your your signing pen. I tried a Sigma Micron 05 but it seems a bit thick. Thanks for any info.

I haven't mastered selling artistic prints yet. I am still on that journey. I have sold them through art galleries, coffee shops, barbershops, basically anyone who will let them sit on the wall long enough for it to be sold. My wife and I do have a photography business focusing on portraits for clients, families, weddings, etc. and there is where I focus most of my time. That I have a website for. How about you? What have you tried so far?

If you were to do another limited edition of this print how would it be numbered? Do they do 2nd edition prints like they do with publishing books?

I wouldn't. If you plan on selling a bunch of prints of the same photo, then don't do a limited edition. Just make prints and sell them signed. I have sold prints other than this and have several for sale locally where I signed them a bit differently. For instance, If it is a black and white photo I printed personally in my darkroom, I signed the print below the photo with the title and then my signature on the right. I have seen people date them on the left side. Whatever you choose, I feel it is important to stick with it. Your call as an artist though.

Adhesives? Signature on the photo? Not exactly best practices. Pencil on the back only is best.

Besides mounting the artwork to the window mat is a no no, it should be to the mat board and the window mat hinged to it, and the way he taped it is wrong, t hinge is not done that way....so much disinformation out there ...!
