Rather than select the sky and invert, it is simpler to intersect the gradient with the sky (in whichever order you prefer). Same result in one less step.

Yes one click.., or about 2 seconds ;-) As I mentioned in the beginning there are 10 ways to do everything. It doesn’t really matter how you did it as long as you’re happy w the results. Thx!

there are 10 ways, but as an educator, it's best to use the correct way intended by the designers of the software. The rest of us hacks will bodge it up and get halos everywhere otherwise.

Very nice. Just through my own playing around, I was solving this kind of problem by using the Luminance mask to subtract, but I love this Select Sky and Invert option... Will give it a go, thanks Matt. Great channel. Will definitely buy some products to support 👍

Like the tutorial. Select and invert is a good method to isolate the area of interest.

I think I'm right that it's slightly quicker just to select sky then intersect the linear gradient to achieve the effect you did in the last photo? Regardless, I like the technique as it's somewhat like the linear gradient minus the dark bits which is what I used before select sky was a thing. I may be overusing select sky on it's own - time to change!
