I'm all in for the Mike F. Builder Series shirts. Mike definitely is a very skilled guy, not that it wasn't obvious in his other appearances in the past. But, his care and craftsmanship in doing this recessed lift project really shines through.

I am now seriously considering the possibility that Mike is a cyborg sent here to teach the rest of us how to be real men! How in thee hell does he know how to do LITERALLY everything!?

Hey Mike, really nice job with the floor maybe on Matt’s install consider leaving the tile 3/4 of an inch proud of the floor so when the switch tracks are installed you can’t see the cut edge just a thought you guys have a great Christmas!!

Going on with the Builder Series shirts (which I know was intended as tongue in cheek), we need an OG Builder Series Spec Garage. Because most of us who build things in our shop (welding, etc) are a "hard pass" on plastic floor tile and some of the other choices. But we still like our garages to look good and we still care about having the best products.

@deadpixelmedia31712 жыл бұрын
are you planning on putting expanding foam or something in the pipe for the hydraulic lines? If not i would have left the pipe proud, if Matts going to be washing things in there, that's inviting water to drain down into where the lift is.
@ObsessedGarage2 жыл бұрын
No washing will be done in here.

Why where the two slabs not doweled and epoxied (with something like sika 500)together with some #3’s at the spacing of the bar in the new poor so the two slabs have less of a chance to settle at different rates?

I've always wondered this. How do intend to drain water out of the pit if you do any kind of washing on the lift?

You would have to install a drain.

So, as an X-pro myself, I always play the Devils advocate. If you know what the job is going to require you should only need to go to the store once and buy everything otherwise your wasting time and money unless ofcourse you just have time to kill and are waiting for the mortar to harden and need a break? Lol! Otherwise, awesome job.

Why use grout instead of concrete over the PVC pipes?
@jbhunt98642 жыл бұрын
Finished look
@MikeFigueira2 жыл бұрын
The aggregate in the concrete mix makes it more difficult to fill the small spaces around the pipe. I've always had better luck with grout.

Probably not needed for that small of an area. Normally you would press one into place and then pull it back off to check for thinset coverage, which I would think Mike would do.

No masks in Florida?
@mikeburr1142 жыл бұрын
No masks anywhere if you are sane.
@ObsessedGarage2 жыл бұрын
Ha, ha... I've worn a mask a total of about 10 times. It's complete nonsense.
@jeffc68322 жыл бұрын
Even here in liberal Minnesota, there are no masks except for the safety sallies.
@Patrick94GSR2 жыл бұрын
And that’s why we’re seeing yet another spike in cases.
@Shiftheads2 жыл бұрын
@@Patrick94GSR the spike is because of a more contagious variant of covid. I don't think anyone has drastically changed their masking especially in Florida in the last 6 months. So I doubt it's the lack of masks moving up the rate of infection. Here in Colorado I'd say about 20-30 percent are wearing masks in stores.
