have seen some barn find old bicycles that could benefit from this. Im sure you could use this machine for all types of restoration parts and pieces. I bet people with big yachts / sailboats would like certain pieces cleaned too that were able to be brought in. man all types of industrial things as well i bet companies would have shipped in that literally have bottomless pockets. I'm sure you've gotten into all that though and probably keep your time full with the fine cars.
@groundcontrol68763 жыл бұрын
6:54 I thought I was the only one!!! I always leave it absolutely spotless just so they take extra care. Otherwise they will leave grease on the steering wheel, dirt inside and out and scratch your car. But if you bring the car in with a spotless, dressed engine bay, freshly detailed interior, freshly detailed exterior (including wheel wells, inside the wheels, all the jambs, inside tires *the side of the tire u don't see*, immaculate grills etc, they go holy crap, I this thing is absolutely spotless, this is a picky owner that might give me trouble if I return it all greasy like I do with every single car, let me be extra careful. They'll change out their gloves to fresh ones, They'll put their tools elsewhere instead of using that dirty matt that's supposed to not scratch your fenders (come on, it still scratches it, that thing is filthy), and then when they have to go inside the car they put newspaper and take their gloves off to touch the steering wheels and things of that nature. This man thinks just like me, I like him a lot.

Great video and spectacular results! I can't help but ask about your lack of breathing protection. Thanks!

This has been a fun series to keep up with. I brought this technology up with my father who is in charge of tooling and repair in the air force and he was very familiar with this process. But he said they could only do it for 90 minutes at a time because of the noise level involved even with ppe. It seems like you don't have to worry about that, why? Is it because this is the more commercial version of this process versus the industrial versions used in the military?
@ScottAles3 жыл бұрын
That's another reason I don't use the larger production gun much. It's 125 decibels! My headphones are actually designed for oul rigs.
@Balisage3 жыл бұрын
@@ScottAles yeah, that amount of noise sustained for long periods of time would require some serious protection. Good point about the size of the gun. It makes sense that the amount of sound is related to the volume of material being shot. Even the big gun you used in this video has a relatively small effective area. Interesting stuff for sure!

i would like to asses the PPE you are using. hearing protection - NRR rating? plugs used with muffs? dBs of your work area over 90 ? gloves - Temperature rating? you said no mask have you considered a full face respirator with p100 filters ? might as well if you want to use a face shield but not half face respirator.

Sensear headsets www.sensear.com/products/smart-headsets/sm1p02-wireless-wired-headset Gloves are latex first, then regular work gloves. I learned living in Iowa that air space between coverings is a great insulator. I always use a full face shield, occasionally wear a n95 mask, mostly when I'm doing wheel wells and brakes.
@C0DG0D223 жыл бұрын
Just curious, why knock off the cosmoline if that’s the “factory finish”?
@ScottAles3 жыл бұрын
Cosmoline is applied at the factory just like the white film stuck to the outside of cars today. Or, like the green spray that used to come on white wall tires new. And if you bought a German built car in Germany, they didn't apply the cosmoline as liberally. I actually found an option code for US cosmoline to protect the cars on the boat ride over. There are many factory installed protective things on new cars which are designed to be removed before use or sale.
@C0DG0D223 жыл бұрын
@@ScottAles good to know. so why remove it?

Because it chips and looks ugly?
@ScottAles3 жыл бұрын
@@C0DG0D22 because it has decades of sand, grit, tar, road kill and who knows what else clinging to it. How long do you keep a fly trap? Not to mention these cars are no longer used in harsh climate daily. Would you spray new cosmoline on a custom built, nut and bolt restored restomod? Or how about a concours level car?
