I've just gotta say, out of all the acting and martial arts athleticism on display here, the single shot that sold this fight scene to me the hardest was that fall after the sweep. Landing on the shoulders like that and just folding up. Like goddamn that looks like it hurt. Even in high octane movie fights you totally need moments like that to ground the fight scene. Superb fight scene and one of my all time favorites. Also all the credit to infusing a character with brief screen time with all kinds of charisma and personality. The little smirks and body language were perfect. And the way the camera isn't afraid to hold and actually show what's going on. Dang this scene is gold.
@whyisblue923taken2 жыл бұрын

i love this scene because the camera hangs. it lets you see all the impact moments and i makes the fight that much more believable. it helps a lot that theyre both so talented and know exactly how to move, and that the choreography is really fun but the camera just letting every exchange marinate in your mind is what makes it feel so exhilarating.

Moments later they started beating my fiancee and another bystander said: Yo dude, aren't you gonna help? So me, the bystander and the 3 thugs all started beating my fiancee.

did anyone catch this ? in the beginning of the fight: Michael Jai White and Matt Mullins fought randomly that's until Matt Mullins caught Michael with a spinning air kick. and at that moment Michael figured out Matts weakness MATT WAS ONLY DEFENDING HIS LEFT SIDE, AND KEPT HIS RIGHT SIDE WIDE OPEN FOR AN ATTACK !!! The only question that is left: how come Michael was able to read this ? was Matt injured ? was he physically weak on the right side ? Note: Keep in mind, I'm asking these questions within the context of the film. I'm asking about the nature of the characters within the film. whats so fascinating about this film, is that this is the only Martial Arts film where you see tactics, game-plan, strategy every little detail within the realm of martial arts was played out in this film as if it were a chess game.
@kovenmaitreya71846 жыл бұрын
Mayssan Haddad They made the movie specifically with that in mind. One reason why its a personal favorite martial arts movie of mine. Remember that he plays chess with the old man.. it's to later highlight how all of his thought process play out like chess all the way to his ultimate goal of getting revenge and helping the surviving members of his friends family.

Hard to believe this was 11 yes ago. Still one of the best fight scenes in the movie
@mitromney3 жыл бұрын
I honestly hope you are joking. Little to no guard from both supposed masters, painfully average choreography when it comes to techniques, they are both slow, lacking, they are neither dynamic nor emotional which makes the fight almost boring to watch, there are no interesting camera angles, music or even any character or plot related stakes involved as it's the first time the two even see eachother, and there is no tension between them, and what's worse, both actors miss their punches and kicks by a mile, obviously having strict contracts to not harm eachother and lackimg money for doubles that would be willing to get their ass kicked. This is just pathetic all around. Any of the Tony Jaa's fights look better then this, most of Donnie Yen's fights look better then this, and there is a bazillion other fight scenes in general, all across the movie industry, that's just all around better. There is little to nothing good about this fight.

What's great about this scene is most of the fights in this film are focused on brute force. MJW takes on huge burly opponents and that's all fun and awesome too. But here.. this fight is where he shows his finesse. This fight is far more about thinking and he doesn't win the fight by strength or even skill but he wins by out-thinking his opponent and with a couple of VERY clever misdirects he gets the upper hand in the fight.

This is one of my favorite scenes in any film. Your stunt work is amazing. One of the things I don't like about Michael Jai White's fight scenes is that I know he's a great martial artist, but the scenes don't feel real. Your movements and that fall in particular made it feel like a real intense fight. I had wanted to see Blood and Bone when it came out, but I dropped everything and looked for it as soon as read you were in it. You're badass, Kamen Rider Wing Knight.
