If there is anyone who can comment on the discomfort that some feel in the mainstage now is the legend of dance music John Digweed, given that he is a former DJ Mag # 1 and one of the most outstanding DJs / producers of the underground scene . John has a unique position on both sides of the industry, as such, he is in a position to offer what is, in many ways, the best perspective on the current state of EDM. In an interview with MTV titled "The Problem with Mainstream EDM Festivals," Digweed expressed his frustration with the current generation of leading artists: "If you are the greatest DJ in the world, you are in a position where you can play unknown tracks and fly the minds of people, but if you end up choosing to play tracks that everyone knows, just to get a reaction already known, that is typical of lazy people. " Anyone who has been in an EDM festival can attest to this phenomenon, Afrojack playing for the thousandth time take over control, Alesso with his well-known Nillionaire, SHM with all his repertoire, among others. The main scenographies have become generic in a few words. On the other hand, anyone who has seen a performance by Carl Cox or Digweed can relate the magic of not knowing the tracks that are playing on their set. Digweed cemented the comparison instead: "What is most rewarding for me is .. to play an album that I just downloaded this afternoon and everyone goes crazy ... nobody knows what it is .. that's a better reaction . " Trance legend, Paul van Dyk, was also present to offer his thoughts. "I think it's our responsibility as DJs to dig through all those thousands and thousands of tracks that come out every week and pick the ones that really mean something." Digweed and PvD focus more on the role of the DJ as a trendsetter, than as a creator of memories. Anyone can buy through Beatport the first ten songs to find a clue that we will expect a great response, but it is the responsibility of a DJ to find the clues that will leave people clamoring for weekends and spend time in realizing which It was the name of that elusive 'ID'

soo i've watched all sets from Tomorrowland Winter and all what I can say that the Winter edition is just for true freaks (in good meaning) and people who really enjoy electronic music and festivals.. this kind of festival (i mean in winter) isn't for everyone what is clearly seen on videos :D Also another thing, it's something wrong with my eyes or majority people is much older than can been seen on videos from Tomorrowland in summer? :D

@Nancy Farouk This first edition of winter tomorrowland is more an experiment than anything else. The first attempt at something rarely is a complete spot on. Perhaps we're just too used to the summer edition, to accept having a winter edition too, or perhaps the setting is not quite right. Awareness is key over all. Few of the festival goers that attend the summer festival even know that there is now a winter edition too. That's sadly because 90% of the people that go to tomorrowland, do so because it's popular, and not because they love electronic dance music. If this winter edition eventually takes off, then they'll be able to improve it a lot. What I think it needs, in order to become a true success, is a MUCH bigger mainstage, and a different location. Look how small this venue is.

But these are the pros of all time great festival & music shows, I believe that a small trial with this venue on a very small scale should have been tested first prior to announcing the whole thing; testing if people can really dance n move freely wearing such heavy attire needed for such cold weather conditions, also the ground, people might be worried to dance freely and jump and act so crazy to avoid taking a hardcore nose dive themselves "slipping I mean" and it will be on cameras, let alone, their vaca. Or trip might end up with a serious injury. Aside from all of that, I dig this festival, I dig this great joyful spirit it cultivates via the amazing music and hardcore talented artists/musicians & their super on stage performances, so it is very sad for me "personally" that they took this risk or first attempt and made a huge publicity for it without prior testing to the venue properly. As I hate to see something so great & prominent, that means a lot for loads of people across the globe, be presented so poorly after huge successes and massive performances and iconic festivals year after year after year. My heart aches for such an awesome successful festival like Tomorrowland to be prone to a trial and error experimental winter festival. Neither Tomorrowland festival nor its fans deserves to see this loving event facing a mediocre performance level. I hope you get what I am trying to say, I might sound a bit emotional here 🙈 hee

@Nancy Farouk Makes sense. I too would hate for this to flop. The idea is great, but I think that so far, it's underdelivering. DMV&LM's set got a bit "wtf" after they asked people to take their shirts off. No one did it. Again, I hope they will take their time if they want the winter edition to stand a chance to the summer one. This mainstage lacks the character that the summer one has. This just looks like a satellite event.
