Last year I predicted in preseason that not much was going to happen in 2023 except for Latifi being replaced. And then out of nothing: Mazapin kicked out, Magnussen flown in, Vettel retired, Alonso switched seats, Ricciardo kicked out, Piastri switched teams, Gasly replaced Alonso, De Vries replaced Gasly, and Schumacher replaced by Hulk. And that was even before half of the teams switched bosses over the course of just weeks. Moral of this story: never assume in F1 that not much is going to happen.

I could see Toto Wolff leaning on Williams to get Mick Schumacher into the second seat there. Then that in turn pushes Sargeant out and into Haas who I believe will bin Magnussen off (again) at the end of the season - and the commercial appeal of an American in an American team will be huge for Haas.

I think the rumour was that he retires in 2024 and Tsunoda is brought to replace,. I like that Albon idea he could seriously rock at that car unless their performance goes away.

If checo becomes third in the WDC Daniel or Yuki would go to RB. That is one thing for sure, because in an interview with Horner he said that Checo should focus for second in the WDC.

Danny would have to seriously impress at AT it wouldnt just be an automatic move. RB will be looking at plenty of options outside of Yuki and Danny oif Checo is to go.

@@JW-qf2fx They won't get Lando or Charles, they both have a stable position as the first driver in good teams. Everyone knows how cursed the second red bull seat is, there is nothing to gain for them there.

I think you underestimate how much Haas is willing to stick with who they know. Grosjean and Magnussen as a duo stayed together much longer than most people thought they would have. So many seasons where either Grosjean or Magnussen were thought to be on the out, only to keep their seats for another and another and another season.

Hear me out. People are being harsh on Mick Schumacher. Discrediting his junior career because of his name, and ignoring the pace and progress he showed at Haas because of the crashes and again the name. Take Yuki Tsunoda for example, he crashed that AT quite a few times but he was still given a vote of confidence and he's flourishing now. Mick Schumacher showed serious progress at Haas and in the 2nd part of 2022 he was consistently beating Magnussen on Sundays. Had he been allowed to continue I think he'd be doing what Hulkenberg is pretty much doing right now. The pace is there, and in a better environment I think he can surprise people - hope Williams go for him.

Williams have never really been the kind of team to boot out a rookie after one season, unless they are very bad. And if anyone is going to get the Williams seat, I think Frederik Vesti is favourite

Crashes aren't cheap especially at a team like haas. He is a great driver but not elite

As a KMag fan I would just follow Haas a lot so I wouldn’t say Mick was ever beating Kevin on pure pace on Sundays, a lot of it was poor strategy calls or the black and orange flags forcing him to pit early. Mick also got some horrendous strategies but I just really wasn’t impressed by him. You also have to consider that Mick is coming off demolishing his teammate so should be at peak confidence and it took him half a year to get a point. And also Haas has the tightest budget (them or Williams), they couldn’t afford when Mick was crashing because a lot of their parts are bought in from Ferrari so they have to pay more. Mick and Haas were just not the right fit at the end of the day, but I don’t see how he gets back into F1 at this point

yuki had crashes but got as high as p4 finishes in his rookie season, and was given a second season where he made clear improvements. mick, in his second season, the only time he had a remotely competent car, did a very meh job and binned it too much for haas to afford. his not being there makes complete sense.

So can Mick score 3 points by driving AT04 and finish p11 3times? No way. Look how Mick performed last year. Every Mick fan tries to defend his boy by being harsh to Yuki but stop that. Yuki maid a progress aginst Gasly in second half of last year. Mick didn't show his potential against Magnussen. There is a clear defference in between Yuki and Mick.

Even more so when thinking that Pourchaire who is younger than Vesti was ahead of Vesti last year in same car…. And last year Pourchaire got many DNF and was not satisfied of his season. Vesti won’t drive in F1… Mercedes got another crack coming up … younger perfect in 2 or 3 years when Hamilton retire…

You could have added a few "What ifs": E.g. Hamilton surprise retires: Who gets his seat? Lando? Hulk? Even a Bottas return (Toto: "We hired a wingman for George!") ? Who get's the open seat?

I'd be surprised if Lando didn't jump into Mercedes and join George. I can't see them opting for Hulkenburg or Bottas tbh. I think a wildcard prediction would be Albon joining the team, if Lando wanted to stay loyal to McLaren.

I could see a Lawson tsunoda line up for 2024, with danny returning as a third driver for red bull while waiting for checo to finish his contract and then taking his place in 2025 - 2026 if all goes well for him

You should do your genuine predictions and compare it with what you THINK should be each teams line-up (eg you predict Stroll stays at AM but you think it should be AlonsoXSainz for example) Would be a really cool comparison and great content too, anyway, love the content guys :)

Not a single mention about Drugovich is really interesting. I suppose he could move into that role where Stroll (ever) leaves. I guess his F2 championship win is somewhat marred by the amount of years he spent in F1. In contrast to a Piastri/Russel/Leclerc who did it in minimal seasons.

Mick had some good performances in Haas, people are quick to forget he was an F2 champion which doesn’t happen by name. He was put in a difficult situation with Haas which understandably couldn’t afford his mistakes but with a team like Mercedes he would be given proper support and development to prove his talent is still there

I think Logie got promoted to F1 before he was ready (just one full season in F2 isn't enough unless you're someone like Piastri), but he has been solid driver in lower categories and should have potential to be okay level F1 driver as well given some experience. Given that Williams promoted him from their own driver academy, I don't think they are going to give up on Sargeant that quickly. I do think KMag has been underperfoming and Haas should be looking for a replacement. That's IMO the most likely driver change for next year. Given that they have one solid veteran in Hülk, maybe the team would be open to giving rookie driver a chance again. Zhou getting replaced by Theo is also possibility. He has been okay and brings quite a bit of sponsorship, but with Audi about to take over the team Zhou's marketing value might be less of a factor, in which case Haas would probably gladly take him.

What RBR does in driver selection is what every team should be doing to make F1 even more exciting. Why waste time on driver who might not even succeed when there're already junior champions and talented drivers waiting to race in F1.

Mick and Mazepin driving like right muppets ruined things for drivers like Drugovich. Haas won't ever give rookies a chance after the horrorshow they experienced with those two. It's a shame, because I'd love to see Drugovich at some place like Haas. Hulkenberg is doing well, but a Drugovich/Shwartzman lineup sounds more interesting than what they have now.

Toms feels pretty accurate. Theo is still only 19 and leading F2, there will be teams approaching him much like piastri if they don’t get him in a seat soon. It’s possible he already has an agreement but if that’s the case I don’t know why they’d wait and not just progress his development. By the time Audi join in 26, they could have an experienced driver like Carlos and Theo in his 3rd season. Just makes sense. Perez is only safe at this point due to how incredibly competitive the cars are behind red bull. Ferrari, mclaren, aston and Mercedes have all had weekends where their car is the clear best behind red bull. If Perez was clear 3rd or even 4th behind a true second best car it would really highlight his struggles this season.

If any top or high midfield team was interested in him they would've picked him up by this point. He's not an awful driver, but he failed to prove that he is worthy of a seat in F1.

I think it's interesting how M&T are saying Albon needs to leave Williams. With their new leadership, they could improve like McLaren have and be right back in the thick of things (they're already showing small signs of this), and if they build around Alex, he might be well advised to stick around.

I think this just proves that f1 needs at least an 11th team. So many great drivers mentioned and unfortunately they won't find themselves in an F1 seat for a while possibly. Porchaire, Vesti, Lawson, Iwasa and Druggovic are just some juniors who deserve a shot. Then you have Mick Schumacher as well as some other great drivers. It really needs to happen so these talent get a chance.

Haas will keep it's current driver lineup for next year at least. Nico may be able to blow out qualifying, but race pace is where it matters and Nico just falls back and both drivers finish the race about equal(bottom of the grid). Australia was a one off in Hulkenberg's favor, as he was in 9th before the second to last red flag, with Sainz's penalty netting him 2 more points. Getting to Q3 doesn't mean anything when Haas can't keep their tires alive long enough to hold the position.

I agree with you guys Checo will be there STARTING 2024 but if he under performs and any of the teams somehow close the gap up to RB this winter and the car isn't as dominate as it is this year in comparison to the rest of the field I see them pulling a mid season change. I agree he's saved by the performance of the RB19 but it's all going to depend on who shows up at BR 2024 performance wise and if there's a team close to RB by some miracle I could see him get ousted mid season but then the only swap would be to put DR in the seat until 2024 ends then address it after the season, so I think Checo will still be looking over his shoulder and DR will be keeping a close eye on it. Let's all just hope for a more competitive year next year at the sharp end of the grid..mid field battles have been great this year but it's just not the same without atleast having a fight for the drivers and P1 every weekend

I think we’ll see Mick Schumacher on the grid next season. It could be Alfa Romero, Alpha Turi or Williams. Logan Sargeant has exceeded my expectations for himself, and I could see him going to Haas next season. I could also see Lawson at AT.

F2 is increasingly irrelevant. Sargeant not near the title, gets an F1 drive. Piastri lucky to get himself unbenched. F2 needs to become a well paid gig and allow champions to stay. That will increase the value of top positions. Maybe even allow drivers who've done an F1 race back for more seasons. F2 is so unique in how it's set up...does it even help young drivers in terms of career? It's better to get into Indycar than into F1.

Same. Liam has a really good junior record in nearly every category fighting for the title. His F3/F2 wasn't the best but you need to be in the right team at the right time. Now he's in Super Formula with a good team he's winning and fighting at the front consistently... He's doing just as well as Gasly did in SF if not better and if that was enough to promote him it should be enough for Liam too.

5:15 - Lance has been closer overall to Fernando in the last 4-5 races.

Probably mostly because the car has gone from 2nd best to 4th/5th so position wise theres less for stroll to lose against alonso because the gap between 5th and 6th best cars is massive.

@@teokotirinta2960 I don't think that's everything. He was ahead or beating him all weekend in Spain. Pretty much even. Last race he was much closer than the results let on. The timing of the pitstop during the wettest time of the race onto softs just killed Stroll's chances of getting higher up. There's also been a bigger trend of him outpacing Alonso in various practice sessions and quali sessions. Not a lot, but its becoming more frequent than it was. Gotta remember that basically for 1/4th of the entire season he was healing various injuries.

Personally I wouldn’t be surprised to see RedBull drop Perez. The fact is, right now he is second in the championship and Max is far enough that even if Perez was to drop off, the constructors is not likely to swing away from RB. However, next year if a Merc/Ferrari/ Aston/ McLaren close up and all of a sudden Perez is 3/4 and Max isn’t running away with it but is still 1st, that puts RB in the spot they do not want to be in. Personally I would give Tsunoda the RB 2nd seat and see if he sinks or swims next year. The car will still be mighty, and Max isn’t going anywhere. And in my opinion Tsunoda has shown the same consistency Perez did when just before he got the call to RB. And then I would stick Liam Lawson in the AT, otherwise you’re risking another DeFlies, where hes been so overhyped, but has been “passed around” in ither categories and has picked up terrible habits when it comes to F1 racing. My opinions only though.

Most people on the grid would seem to underperform if they were Max's teammate. The only people who would be able to equal Max (like Lewis, Fernando etc.) wouldn't want to go to RB cos it's preferable for them to be at a team where they're the lead driver - and RB is just built around Max and no one else.

@@rowan224 Except Bottas was much closer to Hamilton than Perez is to Max. That is because Max is way better than Hamilton ever was. Hamilton never managed to break the records Max is breaking now, where the merc was far more dominant. The current dominance is Max', not the RB car, that is the main difference. To be honest, Bottas and Perez are of a similar level even when one is better at qualifying than the other and the other way around when it comes to actually racing others.

It's early days with Ricciardo.. I haven't seen enough to convince me he should remain in that seat yet. He's not done terrible but I think he is benefiting right now from fan favouritism. For me Lawson needs to be in that seat. Whats the end game with Ricciardo? He might get another shot next to Max at Red Bull in '25 but he will be 35/36 by then and likely on the downward spiral if his McLaren form is anything to go by. Very few drivers are built like Alonso/Hamilton who can keep on producing at a high level into their later 30's early 40's.

A lot of really great silly season moves and potentially "Great" talent is being wasted imo because of a few mid drivers (perez, stroll, bottas). perez is holding up a combo of: Danny ric, tsunoda, liam lawson, iyumu awasa while stroll is holding up: tsunoda, and the many other drivers from side effects of grabbing a seasoned veteran from another team bottas: holding up pourchaire. an 11th team would help tremendously with this, but ill only believe it when i see it

I would make changes here, first of all, I do not think Stroll will be in that Aston for years to come, because even though his father owns the team, there is also a board of directors which also makes the decisions, and Lawrence Stroll said it himself that nothing will stop him from winning, I think Albon is the most likely solution for Lance's replacement, as Red Bull is notorious for not giving drivers second chances, as they did with Gasly when he was probably the most in form driver in 2020-2021, so I think Albon most likely will replace Stroll at Aston.

Albon, I think, will either move to Audi (if they promise a good package for 2026) or Ferrari if Sainz leaves for Audi. The driver lineups would be a lot more interesting if the RB19 wasn't such an all-conquering beast. Put Verstappen / Perez combo in any other car and we'd have huge cascading effects down the grid, cause without the RB19 to cover for all his mistakes, Perez has had a shit year. He's tied for 11th this year in Q3 appearances...Gasly, Piastri and Stroll have all been in Q3 more often than Perez....but that RB19 will cover his ass at least until next year, and as long as he keeps his mouth shut and keeps playing the good teammate, why rock the boat.
