Colapinto keeping Sargeant's spirit alive by beating Perez in a Williams
@spawnofapathyАй бұрын
Colapinto, Bearman, Lawson, AND F’n Piastri show that there is ZERO excuse to have a mediocre driver in F1 just because they have years of F1 experience. There are young drivers good enough to adapt to F1 immediately and not need 1 or 2, or 7 years in the case of Stroll.
@TrendyfluteАй бұрын
Quite true, I'm glad the logjam preventing new drivers from getting in finally appears to be breaking. Also love how Colapinto went from an afterthought to F1 (many around the sport literally never heard of him) to being spoken of in the same breath as the most hyped young stars. F2 has been a poor indicator of F1 skill for years and a lot of drivers that look mid on paper deserve a chance.

@@Trendyflute I've had this feeling for a while that F2 actually makes the transition harder It's a spec series, so everything is the same, so while being good in it is an indicator of being a better driver, the car is so vastly different to an F1 car and how it operates One driver may gel with an F2 car, but be horrible in an F1 car and vise versa ala colapinto not setting the world on fire in F2, but looking like he always belonged in an F1 car
@Louis_BautistaАй бұрын
Colapinto proves that Vowles was right to not believe in Sargeant. A lot of people thought that Sargeant needed more time and support, but the simple truth is that he just wasn't good enough. If he was, he would've shown some flashes of brilliance earlier but he never did

@@pandre5458 That suggests it's the *fans'* problems for having overblown prejudice toward nepotism, willing to rate them worse than pro drivers that suffer from constant bad lucks and unrecoverable slump. I can say from working and being on teams with people who are benefiting from nepotism in a similar way, that’s often the outcome. Most people are smart enough to recognize when they are in over their head. More often than not when faced with this situation they’re just stuck mentally and can’t even convince themselves to try and earn their place. The very fact that they are in this circumstance comes with the idea that whoever gave them that spot didn’t think they could do it themselves, so why try?

They will never promote Yuki. Furthermore they already know everything there's to know about him, won't learn anything new in these final races.

@@petermoore9504 Yuki is there because Honda is providing the engines. However, let's not forget that Honda told Red Bull that they were not gonna continue in F1, only to announce their joint venture with Aston Martin 6 months later. Red Bull will never promote Yuki to the main team, and will kick him out as soon as Honda leaves for AM, as a "thank you" for what they feel was a backstabbing.

@@angelrobles7201 Factually incorrect, Tsunoda was signed to a 2 year extension 2 months ago, and RB have know about the Honda Aston Martin thing for more than an year now. It's clear they want Tsunoda, since he's turned out to be more than just a Honda pay driver.

@@indcredible7839 Maybe I wasn't clear. Honda first told Red Bull that they were out of F1 in 2026, so they had to find another engine provider (which led to them signing with Ford). 6 months later, Aston Martin and Honda announced their partnership in F1. The same F1 that Honda told Red Bull they were leaving. Now, with regards to Yuki's contract... people are saying that Red Bull can (and should) break off the two contracts they have with Checo (the one ending this year and the extension to 2026). What would be stopping them from doing the same with Yuki in any given case?

I think it could do wonders for Danny Ric to be away from F1 for a year or two. It might help him get his mojo back. Everyone thought Hulkenberg's career was finished, but since he got back, he has been on fire.

Yeah just like his 8 month break between McLaren and Alpha Tauri did much good.

Just one year of pain? I think that may be far too optimistic 😬
