I watched your video and was convinced you know and are telling us the truth and nothing but the truth!!! I am a person who has had 3 fractured vertebrae. I have owned one of your Queen-size mattresses for over 2 years now. I am so grateful that I found your video and bought your mattress. It is just like the day I bought it. It has not developed sage spots or any other defects that usually happen in all the other manufacturers of mattresses. I was buying a new mattress every 2 years at great expense. That has stopped. I go to bed and look forward to my rest thru the night, and I can walk the next morning because my back has been supported thru the night. Thank you so much for all you do to educate the public.

In 2 whole years of research Yours is the Only Voice I’ve found speaking out about specific fire retardant chemicals and mattress warranties. Absolutely true, all of it! Thanks to your ethics I’m the happy owner of a fabulous natural latex mattress for 1 year now, sleeping better than ever! Having owned 2 polyurethane foam mattresses I sure wasn’t about to waste more of my health and money on another plastic mattress. Much gratitude 🙏

I've recently gone down the mattress rabbit hole due to having to buy a new mattress. My current mattress is a pillow top with springs that is completely lumpy. Years ago I had a Tempurpedic and loved it, but they are too expensive so I started looking elsewhere. I watched several of the mattress review videos (yes I know they are working with those companies to advertise the companies product. You can tell this because they review the same brands over and over and they never give a bad review. The Sleep Essentials commercial kept popping up and at first I was adverse to even watching this video, but I'm glad I did. I learned a lot of info about the mattress industry. I intend on purchasing a "mattress" from Sleep Essentials soon. I have looked up reviews of this company on line and most are good reviews. Because I'm a heavy person I am trying to decide if I should get the AR3 or the AR4 and add either the Ultra Soft or Soft layer as a topper. I did speak with a salesperson at his store on 9/8 who was very helpful. I figure because the "mattress" is customizable that in a year or 2 years from now if I'm down 150 lbs then I can simply remove one of the firmer layers and replace with a softer layer if the bed is too firm.

Sorry this rambles a bit, but wow! I wish I knew about your company 3.5 years ago! I bought a high quality memory foam mattress with cool gel technology. (The cool gel is a joke, I still heat up, nothing cool about it.) At first I liked it, but a couple months after the trial period ended, I started to hate my bed. I wake up tired, almost daily with a headache, shoulder and back ache. I became acutely aware of just how bad my current bed is when I started working on a house renovation a couple hours away. I was staying in that town to save on time and costs of travel, I stayed at the house and had bed that is at least 30 years old, an old pillow top spring type mattress, you could see that dip in the middle that old beds get, but it was free and a hell of a lot cheaper than driving back and forth or staying in hotel. Figured it couldn’t be that bad. I bought a new padded mattress cover and used the bed. I found I woke up feeling better on that old worn out bed than I do on my 3 year old high tech bed! For starters, no headache and no night sweats. And I wasn’t near as crippled as thought I would be, in fact I was feeling pretty good most mornings. This got me thinking my bed is too firm, it is a very firm mattress, what information I had, my back and shoulder aches most likely caused because it’s too firm for me. After watching your video it could be the chemicals in my mattress. I’ve been looking for a new bed for a couple months, can’t hardly find a mattress that isn’t memory foam, frustrating. After watching your videos, WOW! I’m glad you ship out of state, I’m looking forward to talking with you or your company about a new bed. Your price on the build a mattress sight is within my price range, but I want to talk more about what firmness I should get. Thanks you for this video and I’m so glad it turned up in my feed. The information on just the fire retardants alone is frightening, may explain my daily morning headache. The other information you’ve given is great and answered all my lingering questions about which bed type to buy.

What I have is a polyurethane 6 inch HR-50 foam mattress on top of a piece of plywood. It works pretty well... I flip it every once in a while, but now after 15 years, it's time for a new one. But I bought that one at a local foam supplier for 500$.. It's just regular polyurethane foam, I don't do memory foam, I can't stand the way it feels. I use a little fitted quilted fiberfill topper for a little softness at the surface. I remember that a foam mattress you would buy in the sears catalog in the 70's would always be a natural latex mattress. I only want a 6 inch thick mattress, and not 9. Which firmness level would be similar to an HR-50 polyurethane foam? Do you have samples that can be purchased?

@leecarter3336

What I like about this idea is if you can't afford the whole high-quality enchilada up front, you can always opt for a few cheaper ones or even pull parts from an existing mattress until you can afford to upgrade.

Quite refreshing…been looking to buy a new mattress for a few months now and all I saw was those online companies (where a few now sell in stores to give them a bit more legitimacy) and reviews that are paid by those companies. I was starting to think that they were all the same and could not see why some were more expensive than others… you provided the answer here. The chemical piece was a total eye opener for me… Obviously, the selling proposition came after one hour in the video and I understand you’re not doing this for free. Nonetheless, was glad to watch this. Question: will a 100% latex mattress work on an adjustable base? Thanks!
@SleepEssentials
@SleepEssentials Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! Make sure you share it with as many people as possible. Yes, our latex is the best for adjustable beds for several reasons. One, they are nine inches thick which fit an adjustable bed better. Two, latex bends freely with the movement of the adjustable bed. Hybrid mattress will technically bend but not well. They need weight to force them to bend and your legs from the knees down don't weight enough to make the mattress bend at the knees fully. Latex bends without any weight applied. Third, because our mattresses are 9 inches thick, when you set the head of the bed up, the thicker the mattress the more is behind your back thus putting you further away from your nightstand AND pushing your feet off then end of the bed if you are the least bit tall. In other words, if you were to put a 12 inch mattress on an adjustable bed and you are six feet tall, your feet will hang off the end by about three inches. Lastly, latex is the most durable so if you sit up in your bed much, you are concentrating your weight in the seat thus wearing plastic foam mattresses out much more quickly because it will soften there and then you will have a soft butt impression in your mattress. Latex doesn't have this problem because it doesn't soften very much at all.

In my opinion, Mercola.com is one of the best most honest health sites on the internet. Articles are fully referenced, and proofed by an editorial team. I hate my "Helix" mattress. I hate the silicone shit, I hate memory foam, I hate all of it, and I hate how it's marketing makes people feel like they're doing something for the environment somehow. The mattress I grew up with was amazing, but they don't make them like that anymore. I got it in 2010 from a liquidation sale, so it may have been before all this, but there's no way to really tell. However, I can tell that the difference is springs and cotton. I don't get why people think springs are bad! They're amazing and yeah cotton will discolor overtime, but if you're reasonably hygienic that should take a pretty damn long time. Coils are not springs, they're not the same thing. And memory foam should only be used for storage purposes. Silicones, I just don't get what the hype is about silicones. They don't wick moisture away, so how could they possibly be cooling!?!
@SleepEssentials

I think material science will eventually make more durable foams that sleep cooler and don't offgas. It's just a matter of time and R and D. But it has the potential to become much better over time. Serene foam for instance is much better than memory foam. Sleeps cooler,better pressure relief,bouncier,Not temperature sensitive and more durable. The next evolution over that will likely be even better. Material science is always advancing. Eventually they can make foams more durable than latex with all the pressure relief of memory foam or even better.
@SleepEssentials

Covid changed the direction of our business from a retail business to primarily a online business. We do still have one showroom in Roanoke, VA and would love for you to make the trip. I don't do hybrids because they are simply a cheaper way to make a thicker mattress than with all latex. Also, we do all latex because we sell a lot of adjustable beds and the hybrids don't bend nearly as well as all latex. Also, the hybrid units are not very durable. Let us know if you have further questions.

which arrangement is best for couples with different weights and for motion isolation?

Any firmness will be the same for motion isolation and will have no motion. For firmness, you'll both probably have to compromise a little but I can better assess your needs if I can talk to you directly. So please feel free to give me a call at 540-520-1131. Thanks.

Is there an innerspring mattress that you could suggest for someone thats developed Sciatica from a terrible memory foam bed? Im about to purchase my 4th bed in a year, and I am so sick and tired of getting the run around every time. Last time I got duped into a cheap memory foam mattress, as I was told that since I am a side sleeper, that it would alleviate the pain... I FEEL LIKE IM IN A HAMMOCK!!!

I bought this, last November and within 3 months I starting to wake up with lower back pain, neck issues, and hip issues, bought the kind the store owner uses. One of the big reasons I bought it, does not break down. however does not do me good if one keeps waking up with back issues, Hip, and neck. Note it is not just me my wife also is waking up with back issues. So today I bought a MyPillow Pillow topper that will go over this bed. 3" with a 60-day trial. Looking forward, or should I say hoping to wake up with no back issues or hip or neck. Let me know if anyone has found a bed that when you wake up one has no pain! Thanks if you have any questions let me know. 'I am 64 years old and my wife is younger.

@@Famousjack - I have a nerve issue which has required shots. We have tried the AR3, AR2, and now I have rhe AR1. The AR1 is super soft, but still very supportive. Everyone is different. I still disagree that latex is not supportive. The AR3 is soft but feels like you are sleeping on an ironing board, as far as support goes. God bless.

@@leecarter3336 It would nice if you made a 3" casing so a 12" mattress can be made with your standard 9" casing and a 3" layer with a casing on top. Would be easier to move / disassembly and you could clean / air-out the top casing by itself.

Lee, my Tempur-Adapt cooling mattress topper has a sock on it, which is thin and stretchy cloth-like webbed material. My other mattress is a typical poly/visco-poly mattress with a sock webbing that is more like smooth fiber glass. Can you comment on the difference between the likely chemical-contamination nature of these two socks. The Tempur-topper I got last summer. My other question is, if I remove these socks will this increase friction and thus wear of the foam against the cover. Or should this potential friction increase not be something I should be worried about? thanks
@SleepEssentials
@SleepEssentials 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, both of those mesh materials contain chemicals as they are the fire retardant barrier fabrics. You can remove them and reduce your exposure to chemicals but it doesn't reduce them to zero because some of the chemicals have leached into the foam and cover. Will the foam wear out by removing the sock, I have no idea but I seriously doubt it would affect anything.
