I was arguing with a neighbor about firearm safety. He had stated that he would never own a Glock because "they don't have any safety mechanisms to prevent misfires if they are dropped." I was trying my best to explain the three safeties but this video did a much better job. Thank you!
@SirAreve3 жыл бұрын
You see, the neighbour needs an idiot proof safety. Like a huge bar that says S and F on it or has pretty pictures of a bullet. I only watched this because I play airsoft, I'm in the UK.

It's not common for presentations with this many views to be as factual, detailed, and precise as this one. I'm extremely impressed by this creator's knowledge of Glock pistols and his ability to communicate their operation to someone like an unexperienced journalist who might not understand guns at all. It's extremely important to know how reliable and safe the action of this pistol is, and why it is copied by so many companies. It is one of the most popular handguns for civilians, military, and law enforcement for good reason. Glocks are affordable, reliable, light, safe, durable, have an enormous aftermarket availability of spare parts & accessories, an extremely good reputation, the ability to change calibers, and good magazines. It is absolute NONSENSE that countries want to ban them, while having absolutely no respect for their quality, design, and the human right to own something as simple as handguns for self defense.

@@JamesMathison triggers without the trigger safety can be accidentally discharged from a "side glance" from your finger or an object hitting the trigger. You have to have a continuous steady intentional pull to discharge the trigger safety on a Glock. Make sense?

Silver Grizzly , sure. Whenever I’ve shot (not that often, I’m a Brit :-/ ) the trigger has needed plenty of pressure, so I didn’t think a side glance would be enough of a danger to warrant a whole design around it. But if it is, then fair enough.

Glock is the most hopeless shit I've ever seen. Think about what will happen if dirt gets inside in combat conditions? Mud will not allow you to lower the barrel to reload and you will not be able to raise the barrel if there is earth or sand above the barrel. The trigger will not be able to lower the foot to lower the striker on the spring if a small pebble falls under the foot. This gun is for "Airsoft", only for sports shooting and sterile combat in space. Rare shit, absolutely not suitable for war.

So I came to this video and was astonished at the alternative way to fire a bullet. Great animation!

This truly should be like a standard video every glock owner must watch when making the purchase. I just got my first Glock 43 recently and have been incredibly hesitant to carry with one in the chamber due to their apparent "lack" of a traditional safety. Not necessarily, the two are correlated but few parts doesn't prevent issues, only gives less opportunities for a failure that affect the function of the whole (ie fewer dependancies). You could have a simple design that easily jams or in which a component is too weak for repeated stess cycles or hotter loads or too stiff or sticky and won't cycle with weaker loads. And if a single part serves multiple functions its the number of functions not the number of parts that contributes to increasing the number of dependancies.

I am not saying run out and buy one but go to a range that rents them and you will buy one afterwards lol. Unless they rent you a full auto and then you will go home mad when you find out you actually have to be a millionaire to own one and don't mind waiting a year or more to even think about actually getting it. Matt Rittman Could you please do more firearms and/or other tools (such as tasers, pepper spray, maybe military/police equipment)? This would be so great to see turn into a long term series.
