Matt please realize that while some level-ups in these games have requirements that need to be met first (for example the veggies need both the wife and a high level fire to work) most are just based on the number of turns that thing has been in play

Clearly never actually understood the full meaning of the instructions in grow island. He was so enthusiastic that it had instructions at the beginning, and he read them, but did not process the meaning. Everything grows with time. Some things are affected by other items, but each basic grow process is the same. Many changes need other resources to occur, yes. Not all changes are directly cause by the thing placed before them. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because he still says it’s a trial and error game, which it kinda is, but it’s also about paying attention to the changes and how they still happen or not when order changes.

You keep making the same mistake in assuming that the item you place is the reason why something levels up. The items upgrade on their own, and only ever level each other up if there is a direct interaction with the two things. If something does not upgrade, it means that it needs something else to upgrade further, or is already at max level Examples are: Assuming the blanket upgraded the fire Assuming the medicine upgrades the blanket Assuming the blanket upgrades the medicine Unless if you see the things interact directly, they do not affect each other. Take note of how many turns it takes for some things to stop upgrading, and how many turns other things keep upgrading
