John Tempest as a Bama fan I totally agree. They played with so much more discipline than did Bama. I knew our def backs were all new but after 14 games they should have been better. Really good in-depth analysis and breakdown of the game. From a general spectator's view it seemed like Bama just wasn't ready for Clemsons offensive line to dominate the way they did. Saban is still a great coach but I think sometimes people manage to connect some of the dots every couple games and this just happened to be that game where Bama got exposed. No shame in it, happens to every team, just unfortunate for them it was this particular game.

I congratulate both Clemson and Alabama for a fine football season. During the Alabama latter part of the season with more capable opponents, the defense did not appear to be up to the Alabama defense standards. When you loose two very capable Defensive Coordinators within two years, it may have been the results of a substandard defense. Likewise, I know Bama lost a number of quality defensive players to the NFL draft last season, and they were decimated with the departure of so many quality defensive backs. If Coach Saban wants to meet Clemson in the CFP next season, he will have to regroup and get some answers on the defensive side. With all due respect to Tua and the amazing corp of receivers; it is worth repeating, “Championship are won at the line of scrimmage. “ Most of the ESPN talking head essentially ignored Clemson while they kept improving and winning. After watching Alabama all season as well as most of the key Clemson games I began to get an eerie feeling after the big five conference championships. I kept thinking Clemson just keeps on keeping on, and they are being ignored and underestimated. Well, college football championships are still won at the line of scrimmage. Clemson totally dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage. I am saying this as a Bama fan and giving Clemson accolades for a well prepared and played championship game. After the big loss to Alabama during last years CFP semifinals, I would imagine Clemson had a chip on their shoulder and wanting to avenge that loss. Sometimes, the right emotion plays a big part in some football games.

That rotate to a 3 deep zone masked with a Cover 2 at first was the perfect call against young Tua. Tua can be too smart for his own good sometimes and read one side of the field as cover 2 and then without hesitation throw it to the theoretically open man on the opposite side. Clemson won that chess match and it killed the game.

People just want to say Tua sucks and Lawrence is the second coming but outside of the picks, Tua was dropping dimes into tight coverage while under constant pressure. Then Clemson had mental breakdowns in the D against Duke and SC is a rivalry and managed their emotions and gunned for Clemson. @@erikkunkle9574 You just mentioned 3 teams who aren't even in the top 25 that Clemson had a dog fight with. I've watched both teams throughout the season, and that was Trevor Lawrence's best game all year long...which was aided by some AMAZING catches all game long. Passe Ratings/QBR supports my opinion on that as well. Bama had the most talented defense that Clemson faced all year long, there was literally 0 evidence to support that he would suddenly have his best game all year against them.

On the pick 6, number 4 rounded the route off terribly. He put his self ahead of the ball, it was a perfect pass to a time/spot on the field. The defensive call took full advantage of the situation. Jeudy did not run a square route and was out of position on a timing play.
@jacobhayes83245 жыл бұрын
that actually wouldn't have made a difference on this play. he was running an out whether rounded or not he was going to the sideline. The ball was definitely behind him. if he was getting the ball it should have been outside shoulder if anything towards the sideline. I think there was just total confusion because where the ball was placed looked like Smith should have caught it.
@wanderingwalrus43045 жыл бұрын
Jacob Hayes I guess you lack the understanding of a timing route. Tua was throwing to a time and space. Jeudy came off the line angling towards the sideline and then rounded the route off on top of that. A correctly run route would have put the ball on his chest. It looked like confusion because Smith was setup for a timed block after the catch. The coverage called put Terrell squatting in the flat in perfect position to defend the pass. Pressure in the backfield and the dbs positioning made the int possible, but poor route running was the bust in the play. ...and if you want to know who messed up, look at Saban. I’m not a great lip reader....but he clearly said, “g*dd*mit Jeudy!” Pretty sure that was the ESPN field pass broadcast.

I wasn't shocked that Clemson won. I wasn't shocked at the margin of victory. What was shocking is how crappy Alabama played. That fake FG attempt Clemson's D from the 3rd down stayed on the field and was in the fake FG prevent defense. How many defenders was on the line for the 1st down? Another play that showed Alabama gave up was in the 4th quarter when Bama had the ball deep in Clemson's territory on 4th down and they ran Tua to the left and before he got outside the tackle 3 Clemson defenders was there to greet him. Why not put Jalen Hurts in where you can have an RPO? I really like how you broke down this game film.

And on that fake FG, even with all the questionable stuff you pointed out down the field, the LT,LG,C just failed to block 44 so it was over before they factored in, actuallyI'm guessing 45 is a LS and not their normal C cause he looks a bit undersized/overmatched

Tua’s for in the first play & the way it looks like Jerry Jeudy is expecting the ball makes me think it was just a bad throw behind Jerry Jeudy. Alabama doesn’t have the outside receiver run slants like that & they went back to jerry jeudy deep for td right after that. I think they were tryna get there playmaker the ball

Dam Bama defense was soft. Clemson exposed the youth. Clemson O Coordinator and D Coordinator prepared all season for Bama and executed the game plan that night. Dabo is spectacular as a Leader and Head Coach.. The good thing is Bama will be back in it. We win one every other year. ROLL TIDE!!!!

G Grace - Bama Boy Clemson May have very well spent all season preparing for bama, but if Bama didn’t spend any time during the season and their 60 point blowouts preparing for Clemson, you got to wonder nick was thinking. Alabama had maybe one or 2 games to be worried about, same as Clemson. The sec east champion is no longer a pushover like those year where Missouri and Florida were squeaking in with 5 losses. The ACC coastal champion has unfortunately been a pushover the last 2 years. Those 2 divisions have been very up and down, it looks like the sec easy may now have a team approaching eliteness, hard to say at this point though as Kirby has not beaten bama yet. The last 4 years have shown us that the national title goes through Tuscaloosa and Clemson. To win it, those 2 teams must be beaten. See you in 2019 cfp.

Thanks don't think first pass was supposed to be an out. Looks like receiver is supposed to sit then turn it out. Outside receiver was clearly blocking and setting up sideline run.

It seems to me Tua has issues of throwing to short field receivers even when they are wide open. Maybe he’s used to long ball to his best wr who beats the safety most of the time. Unfortunately that night did not belong to Tua and his Bama team. He needs to improve his patience not to force the long throws especially there’s double even triple coverage. His long ball is very accurate and yet there’s situation you don’t force it.

10:38 is your basic “65 in combo” the QB should of never been thinking seam at all. It’s to push the coverage and allow your outside receiver to break under the coverage zone or flat out beat the guy in man but either way after watching this video I feel the Bama QB doesnt have a great QB IQ and I’m guessing is so stacked he got away with a lot of what he was doing to this point
