We brought Matty's new revolutionary brake system to the skatepark to test out and it failed the test when he tried to do a tail whip to tail tap! He hurt his bruised foot even more than it was but it did pass the test on a lot of different tricks especially when using the front brakes. I also debut my new project car for the first time and

Hey matt, other set ups to try. Motorcycle throttle grip-> more leverage/grip, atv/snowmobile thumb trottle. Kinda still levers but inside the bar instead of outside. Would be interesting. Keep the fun experiments going

You prolly haven’t ever been into a twist throttle on a dirtbike but they are very complicated compared to his solution

A 4 stroke throttle tube would be ideal, they have accel and decel cables little bit of playing around you could have front and rear on same side forward can be front brake and rearward can be back brakes

I don’t think even Scotty will be able to make a Prius cool but I’d love to see him try! Also the main problem I see with the throttle brake is how easy it would be to accidentally lock up the brakes when things get sketchy and then over the bars you go.

Matt, I just wanted to let you know that I’m going to install this asap for my rear-brake-only trail/occasional race bike. It’s going to change my enjoyment level so much: for 20 years i have been riding with no feeling in my outer right hand, so I’ve never really been able to effectively use the brake without losing control of my right grip. That will all change now. I’m really looking forward to this. So thanks a bunch for the idea.

Would be better to use MTB Dropper Levers for brake levers. Probably can get more force via pushing your thumb away from your body rather than having to twist your wrist toward your body with the Grip Shifts. No need to move your hand position at all as your thumb is kind of floating while gripping the bars anyway. I don't think the gripshift in current form would ever work amazing for brakes. The gripshift is thicker than your grips. So you either have to have part of your hand (say index finger and thumb) on the grip shift ready to actuate the brakes. Or you'd have to slide your hand inward slightly when you wanted to use the Grip shift. Also no need to modify MTB Dropper post like you would with Gripshift to remove the spring/detents.

Hey a brake "problem solver" or "brake booster" will solve a buncha your cable pull issues. I.e. the gripshift pulls too little cable and requires twisting too much to fully activate your brake. The brake booster solves this by increasing the pull of the cable via pulleys. This is how I've adapted MTB thumb shifters to thumb brakes...

I ride my bike so much, my beloved BMW Z3 roadster still has the same tank of gas since May. It is August now. If I had a Prius, the tank of petrol would last all year. Keep an eye on that rear hatch! If your in an area that gets a lot of rain, we've seen a few that develop leaks between the glass and the panel because the water will actually pool up in there and not drain correctly. The curved glass looks great, but it's a pain in the butt if it gets broken or cracked. You had me at the Audi logo though! I thought the R8 was going to come back!

You could also try to use a dropper post lever for MTBs as a brake lever for the back break. It's still a lever but I think it's harder to cut your hand on because you break with your thumb.

Not a fan of the Prius, but I will admit they really did a good job on making them look better and it's really practical. The Honda CRZ is still the coolest Hybrid imo, since it's the only one in existence with a six speed manual.

your itlle finger actually gives most of the strengh to your grip , if you break that finger or any of the bone in your hand in your litle finger your grip will significantly decrease. holding onto simple thing like knife and fork suddenly very difficult - try it , holding knife or fork in hand but only use first three fingers

Just a thought what if you used a throttle control for a ATV or jetski. It's usually a thump operated lever and it's mounted on the bottom might save the hand from getting smashed and you accidentally hit the brake

Went to Scotty's bike shop last week for bearings on a klunnker build. The people working there were as nice as could be. If you need something for your bike or considering buying one get down to his bike shop . BTW they didn't have new bearings but were able to find some gently used ones for $ 2 bucks. What more could you ask for?

levers are the standard because they give a mechanical advantage. twisting won't work as well and thumb levers would work even less unless you are an absolute beast. your fingers are stronger than thumb or wrist.

I bought a Prius Prime in April and I've only filled the tank 4 times - and it's a tiny tank. The only drawback to the Prime is the lack of storage compared to the standard Prius.

If you enlarge the diameter of the brake cable pull on those twists you’ll increase the brake pressure with less wrist strength and twist, might be something to think about

@@nickdaveNDM Yeah it could free coast, took some getting used to but once you got it dialled they were pretty cool as the braking was solid when engaged, the secret was learning to land everything with your front foot weighted and not the rear….. We could then run what was essentially brake less on the bars if you lost the front brake and that’s how we started tricks with bar spins. 🤙🏼
