The winner for this match was basically decided with a coin flip. So insane to see the growth of the cubers in monkey league. To see so many fours, lack of sevens, and 3.12 was insane. Idk how fast ppl were in past seasons but it looks fast

Someone should develop an ELO system for matchups and we should do ML officially at WCA comps, with results counting for the single rankings. I feel like ML format is the natural evolution of cubing: it's much more entertaining than a head to head average of 5 final where you are competing against someone that solved half an hour ago. Even if you don't know how to solve a cube, you can feel the emotion and intensity, the "sport" aspect of it.

What an epic match! Matty escaping a 5-2 defeat by JUST 0.01s and making an incredible comeback to take the match all the way down to ONE FINAL SOLVE. That's stuff really worthy of the finals. And this just shows how these two are neck in neck with each other and comfortably ahead of the rest. Both entered the finals by beating others relatively easily and played the finals very competitively.

Spoilers below That’s just...sad. I literally have a tear in my eye typing this. Matty was a frigging storm this season. Refusing to lose to anyone. Making an epic comeback to beat Tymon, clapping Leo, big braining his way to take down Ruihang, Bruh! He was the literal embodiment of ‘Yh I lost finals last season...and I’m Back...so y’all are SCREWED NOW!’ The hype was real And he did not slack in the finals at all. Tymon was a terror to watch as usual. But Matty was crazy. A chaotic mix of fluidity and speed. Clapping Tymon’s mid fives with low fives, dropping fours, even dishing out a three. The G was locking up into mid/high 5s. Like wtFF!!😂 I saw him down by two sets and just went like, ‘It’s Matty, he can do this’. And he DID!! What frigging legend😆🔥🔥. I saw it down to one final solve I could feel he’d choke tho. I still trust Tymon more than anyone else in the cubing world when it comes to high pressure situations. I saw him make the first few turns on the deciding solve and just went like ‘Yup! It’s choking time🤦‍♂️’ This is one of the saddest moments in cubing ever. U could see the pain in his eyes growing over the interview as the full implications of that one solve hit him. Second loss to Tymon when it really mattered. Fourth time missing the monkey league trophy while being in the top four. Months of practice down the drain. God-tier form throughout the league, crashed n burned by one solve. Damn I hope someone gave him a hug after that. I didn’t know him before the league. Now he’s one of my favorite cubers of all time - The cubing Jedi 🔥 Gg dude, gg😪

Man...I was thinking it'd be absolutely crazy if Tymon somehow choked on the last solve. I def feel bad for Matty cuz he had so many amazing solves throughout the match. The 7.30 at the end could've been any solve in the match. Just sucks that it was the last one. 9 set, 3rd solve decider is fantastic though. Couldn't have asked for a better final! That 7.01 vs 7.02 clutch solve just barely holding Tymon off was nuts!
