In the video, I show with a simple meme I made using the Doomer from this video ( • a real day in life of ... ) an interesting and quite common phenomenon in the world of competitive gaming.
Back in the day when we started playing a game, in this case, CS:GO, the gameplay was fun even though we weren't the best.
Getting better brought huge satisfaction and joy.
However, once we reached a really high level, the game became way less enjoyable.
Now, we play more out of obligation than for fun and feel burned out...

I remember playing CS:GO long ago. I absolutely ADORED Dual Pistols. I mean, come on! First round and you just run "Tra-ta-ta-ta-ta!" like a maniac, onto the battlefield. And it was fun! Grabbing shotgun and using smoke or flash-granade to outsmart enemies, play game and so on. And after long time... I came back to game. Loaded into lobby. And literally the SECOND people saw my buying Dual-Pistols - everybpdy just explpded: my team raged on me, enemy team laughed theyr asses off. Everybody uses one and same weapons: AK and M16. Or AWM. No shotguns, nor machineguns, no variations of AR's - only those 2. It's just... boring. What's the point?

Exactly, and that's what's ruining the game for people who don't want to tryhard and just want to play for fun and have a great time. I still remember when I started playing cs:go, I had been playing cs 1.6 for years at the time and was really good at it, so when I switched to the infinitely more easier cs:go, I dominated pretty much every single game without breaking a sweat, took me 25 comp wins to get to supreme and I wasn't even trying hard, I didn't know smokes, flashes, molotov's or callouts, I was just playing to have a good time and it was so much fun. Nowadays however, anything over gold nova I don't want to play and I derank myself to stay in the fun zone because the skill ceiling has risen so much these last years that higher ranks are full of tryhards who are extremely toxic and it's just not fun to play anymore. People take this game way too seriously and forgot that the main reason we play videogames is to have a good time, no one cares what rank you are and what your k/d, that's not what gaming is about, and the people who take things too seriously are doing nothing but ruining the experience for everyone.

I disagree, i think what really ruined modern FPS games is the competitive cene, everything today is so competitive, there's no casual experience, most games have sbmm on the normal matchmaking, which is basically ranked but in normal matchmaking, most social features are long gone, that's why its not a big surprise to me that tf2 still alive today even after all those years, since it's basically the opposite of everything i said
