I have the same bike in factory orange, xl frame. Mine has a 180mm front rotor, which helps a lot. I beat mine up on the trails but it's holding up surprisingly well. I didn't keep the icons on it long. I squeezed some 2.3" tires on it - Maxxis dhf and aggressor. Made a huge difference

That's a really good review Matty! There's nothing wrong with a spring fork for light use, it's a little heavier and not as adjustable, but for light use it's just fine and will make the bike more accessible to the beginner/light use rider. I think if you make any modifications to it, it would be to make it more of your street cruiser, you already have two legit mountain bikes. Unless you want to go through the exercise for folks looking to do upgrades, that is. It's fun to watch you learning about this stuff!

@Matasky20102 жыл бұрын
@@todd010 Yes I recently decided on the Marlin 5 and was instantly happy the first time I took it on a light trail. It just gives me an increased confidence that I can go over anything without worrying about the bike itself. The Marlin is definitely slower than a DS would be, but I'm happy to compromise for the Marlin's rugged advantages. It encourages me to stay on the trail more which I also like.

Thanks for the video. I just got the Marlin 6 today. I noticed that my bike came with thee Maxxis tires, just like the ones on your video. But on the Trek's website, it shows that Marlin 6 2022 comes with Bon Trager XR 2 comp tires. Also, the handle bar grips are listed as Bon Trager XR enduro comp(with palm rest) but mine looks just like the ones on your video without the palm rest. Lastly, not to nit pick, but the saddle doesn't have the Bon Trager Arvada letters etched on it. Perhaps Trek changed the parts without making the updates on their website. I seriously thought that the bike shop installed inferior parts to my bike.
@louishansen23703 жыл бұрын
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered to my country with the first shipment (August, lol) and the shop I've ordered it through told me it'll come as you describe due to a parts shortage. Apparently they were also originally planning to offer the XS & S with 24" & 26" options only, and the M through to XL with 27.5" and 29" options, but couldn't source the smaller wheels so had to reserve all the 27.5" stock for the smaller models

It must be a bike snob thing. If people think the Marlin 6 isn’t capable of everything then I would have shocked them all with my $100 mongoose from 2003 back in the day. I did everything and more with that bike that most bike snobs say the Marlin 6 can’t do or shouldn’t do. Hills, jumps, climbs, fast downhill descents, off roaring and dirt bike trails, etc. In most cases it’s not the bike, it’s the rider.

Does the Deore rear derailleur have a clutch? Also, how's the 42t low gear for climbing? Finally, IIRC you can swap out the gear on the crank for up to a 34t which will get you a little of the speed back on the top gear. I was considering on trading in my 2019 Marlin 7 for one of these because believe it or not but the drivetrain is an upgrade but I already upgraded the tires and put in a dropper. Instead I'd actually love to have my kid try one instead and upgrade him from a 2017 FX2 just because of the better brakes, 1x drivetrain and wider tires.
@MattyActive3 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m pretty sure it has a clutch. The low gear is actually really good for climbing. This is my favorite bike to climb with
@flrn62333 жыл бұрын
If you got a 2019 frame, that frame got an hole for the internal routing of the cable for the dropper post, in the rear part of the seat tube, just over the motor. That hole got removed in the later frames. I don't know why they did it, but they screw it doing that. You can make the same hole, but you lose your waranty, so consider that if you want to trade that frame, you can upgrade everything over that frame. You are gonna see lots of broken frames from other brans in the mountain, but not a marlin, it's a very good frame.
