Great video Matty! Like I've said before, I'm on a similar journey with my LT4 Corvette. One thing I caught in your video was during the timing cover gasket install, you mention the "RTV" that was in the bottom of the timing cover. That was actually the oil pan gasket that you had to break to remove the timing cover. If you haven't removed the oil pan yet, it is required in order to remove the timing cover, they both interface with the oil pan gasket. With the oil pan gasket now being ripped apart at the timing cover, you will have a massive leak. I suggest removing the oil pan, and resealing that as well. Felpro makes a nice rubber 1 piece oil pan gasket. Also, when you installed the timing cover you didn't use the proper tool on the water pump seal to keep the 2 sided lip of the seal in the correct orientation. If you look closely at that seal, there are 2 lips that must be pointing away from the timing cover. If one of them flips inside you will have an oil leak there. I actually installed the timing cover without the water pump seal installed and then installed it over the drive shaft and drove it into the timing cover using the OEM tool (www.ebay.com/itm/142969994911?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-166974-028196-7&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=142969994911&targetid=2304343365564&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9010960&poi=&campaignid=22101965686&mkgroupid=176174027467&rlsatarget=pla-2304343365564&abcId=10152577&merchantid=114708808&geoid=9010960&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh9c7mhj-l9rtL_J5FxjQa0nf&gclid=CjwKCAiAqfe8BhBwEiwAsne6gbXoNVXbuqeCtdkibLcR_PuL1eVfRiLRZdzCgxwUcehUsQBjAXEOUBoCnLcQAvD_BwE) Let me know if you have any questions.

Yeah i hope he changes the oil pan gasket out or hes gonna have a massive gap between the timing cover and front oil pan lip lol.

Cool man… thank you so much for the comment… yes I will replace the gasket on the oil pan… Im actually doing this on the next video… so I hope doing it I don’t have any leaks… also for the seal on the water pump i have the tool, i used the same method that the guy from Legit Street Cars did, but maybe I will go back and put it with the tool just to be safe! Thank you again for the inputs!

@@Matty.Garage sounds good! Yeah, I watched that video of Alex’s too and while he is excellent that was a goof on his part. I’d hate for you to redo anything but if you can get the water pump seal out of the timing cover still you could throw a new one in the proper way without having to pull the balancer, hub, timing cover, etc all again.

@@Matty.Garage When you do the oil pan gasket, if you can get the oil pan completely off, check the flange for straightness, in my experience of rebuild SBCs, i have never taken an OEM pan off that didnt need to be hammered flat/straightened. If you dont already have them on your oil pan, i 100% recommend buying oil pan support rails, they run the length of the bolt holes on each side and evenly distribute the torque load on the pan flange preventing distortion and leaking.

Add a small spacer (1/2") behind the ICM heat sink bolts to space it off the bracket. The heat from the cylinder head kills the ICM, I went through about 1 a year, all OEM GM products at the time. Once I put a spacer behind the ICM heat sink, it never failed again. The heat sink they used is not strong enough. Also use a good thermal paste for the heat sink and ICM, I had some left over from one of my PC builds.

Thanks for doing this video Matty. I know someone already mentioned this but I thought I would comment on it again. Someone pointed out that the spark plugs you put in were wrong. The same thing happened to another Utuber the "My Corvette Life" guy. I think he was told the tapered spark plug are for the iron heads on a LT4 the LT1 uses an aluminum head and uses plugs with the metal ring gaskets like the ones you took out.
@Matty.Garage6 күн бұрын
Correct… the plugs I took off were wrong, I saw the video from the Corvette Life… he had the same issue… the ones I did put on should be the correct one! As I said, I got the entire kit from Petris Enterprise which is put together for the LT1 1992 Vette…so this is why Im confident the ones we put on are correct…thank you fot mentioning it and for the support!!

Those spark plugs were for the older L98 and LT5 (found in the ZR1) corvette engines. Both still used aluminum cylinder heads.

Ridiculous AI VOICEOVER that sounds like crap. If it isn't AI, you need to learn how to speak properly. The monotone delivery is a huge deal breaker for a thumbs up.

Bro… it is my voice…. And if you are not happy with it… i get it… just don’t watch it… but it is my voice and I was born with it… and on top of it, English is my second language…. It doesn’t make any sense, if you know a little bit of AI, the sound would be perfect and pronunciation as well… NO IDEA where you guys are getting it from… you should study a little bit more about AI…
