I'm happy the coyotes didn't find him. There are so many in my State, you just can't let them lie overnight, that option is gone. Its made me a better hunter, as I just cant shoot those questionable angles. Still, when mistakes happen (and they do), it just horn soup you have left to eat in the morning, as the coyotes rarely miss a wounded or dead deer lying overnight. Nice buck, I liked your setup, way to go after him !!

Good call backing out. Would only take that shot the way he did when the deer was not at all on alert. I made the mistake of taking it on an alert deer at 25 yards. Deer spun at the shot, and my broad head cut from ribs to the rear ball socket without hitting anything vital. Saw deer crippled badly and emaciated 4 weeks later and was able to put down but made me feel AWEFUL and vow to never take another shot of that kind on an alert deer. Love this channel!

Is it just me or do Josh and you THP boys think there was some arrow deflection at impact? Sure looked to me like the fletchings jump left a bit telling me the arrow deflected rearward some. Big reason why I would advocate for leaving that mechanical broadhead behind next time. It only makes that shot angle harder to pull off.

I'll stick to ethical shots. I have watched Greg with THP self film and pass on shots because he felt it would of resulted badly. This was not the case here. Bill Briscoe Somebody’s always gotta resort to namecalling, huh? You don’t know a damn thing about me. I simply pointed out that the footage is as important as the kill. In truth, it is more important, as the guys have said and done many times when they pass on good shots that aren’t in the frame. I’m really a pretty nice guy, and I’m not trying to be a dick. I’m not debating that the shot wasn’t good. I’m just pointing out the necessity of the camera.
@billbriscoe9414
@billbriscoe9414 4 жыл бұрын
@@JWZelch Everyone knows about you as you are putting it all here. Especially when you say "The footage is as important as the kill!" An ethical shot is MOST important. The Animals deserve that much anyhow. Also brother, a Camera is not a necessity of hunting at all. Its a choice to film if you want to. THP does a damn good job for the most part. I just stated this was poor Judgement, The Young Man was trying to adjust the camera and rushed the shot resulting in a bad shot. That is FACT! You trolled me, remember? Could not just scroll on by. Disagree, yes but make statements like you did? Not when they put Camera footage above being ethical.

I have to ask.. Why is he using the crossbow red blade retainer for the hypo?? Either he's using a very light arrow and needs the red ring to keep it closed, or he's using a proper adult arrow, and is using the red ring out of misunderstanding.... Not good either way. Use a 550 plus grain arrow minimum with the hypo, preferably heavier than that, and with a standard black retainer ring. No reason to introduce more energy loss with a crossbow retainer ring. They are incredibly hard for the blades to deploy....
