Welcome to MĀUA. It features the special environmental relationship of a boutique hotel complex with sustainability, environmental preservation, and cultural understanding. You will be able to experience the unity of the natural elements, bringing together the strength and hospitality of the people serving and enhancing the guest experience.
Built by a group of Frenchmen who love Bali - the landscapes, the culture, and the people, MĀUA Nusa Penida offers 25 Villas with private pools enshrined in a hilltop towering Gamat Bay, the energetic Nusa Ceningan channel. In the distance, the East Bali coastline dominates by Mount Agung. Its location allows enjoying simultaneous views and sounds of the ocean and the jungle.
Designed by French Architect Pascal Mory, specialist of Le Corbusier, MĀUA Nusa Penida becomes one with nature by combining a concrete modernistic architecture, the original limestone terraces, and Nusa Penida flora in iconic landscaped terraces and gardens.
The constructions are placed between heaven and earth, tend to disappear into the hillside in total harmony with the natural environment.
The arrival experience is unique through a water mirror and an avant-gardist reception desk. As wellness will progressively grow to become the core of the guest experience, the resort also comprises a spa and a spacious pool area, with a restaurant and bar, to enjoy quality food and drinks and socialize while enjoying the unique hilltop views.
Māua Nusa Penida Resort is dedicated to sustainability and delivering a luxurious experience while minimizing the environmental footprint. One notable initiative is their organic garden, providing fresh ingredients for the restaurant. The resort also maintains beehives, producing in-house honey. A composting system minimizes food waste and nourishes the garden.
Thoughtful choices like recycled furniture and green roofs reduce environmental impact and promote energy efficiency. Recycling greywater conserves water resources, while a less paper policy encourages digital alternatives, reducing waste. The resort has eliminated single-use plastic to protect Nusa Penida’s pristine environment.
VILLAS:
Accommodation consists of 25 Air-Conditioned Villas all including a dressing, a garden, and a private pool:
* 16 One-bedroom villas. Because of the terrain and to preserve the older trees, none of the villas is exactly identical to the others.
* 6 One-bedroom with living room villas. Those villas display a premium view over the Ceningan channel.
* 3 luxurious Two-bedrooms villas with a large open living room.
By using the sloped configuration and glass panels whenever possible, all Villas have wonderful views while offering excellent privacy, both indoors and outdoors.
Villa furniture is made from recycled ironwood, embodying the perfect imperfections of nature which are the essence of the Wabi-Sabi concept applied throughout the resort.
Sustainability is discrete, though everywhere, from the passive cooling and thermal insulation of the villas, the grey water recycling as well as the ban of disposable plastics.
