Awesome video!!!!! How would you rate the diving in maui?
@chrisbiela7 жыл бұрын
Fintastic Films Thank you. I would say it is one of the best places to dive. Thing is to find the right dive shop (guide). It can ruin your day (like Lahina Divers) or make it amazing like DM Mike from Maui Diving Scuba Center. Overall I would highly recommend it.

Awesome vid! At what depths were these dives?
@chrisbiela7 жыл бұрын
elioperaza Shore dives around 40 ft. Boat dives between 60 - 80 ft. Thanks for compliments.

Great Video! I'm going to Maui in April 2020. Was wondering where that cave is? And what are some of the best locations? I saw some videos of the molokini crater & it looked boring compared to your video. Just wondering if you could tell me some of the best locations to hit when I'm there. Thanks.

Thanks. Makena Caverns it is called. One of my best dive sites ever. Mala Pier is cool as well. Olowalu is great for turtles. All shore dives.

What filter did you use? Going to the Big Island
@chrisbiela5 жыл бұрын
I used red filter. Simple, flip model. Just to be able to open for close up shots with light. Have fun in Kona. Great diving place.

@@chrisbiela Your video is fantastic! I can't wait!. We are snorkeling. What do you know about filming at night? I am snorkeling with the Manta Rays. Should I get a light for the Gopro? Any special filters? Do you think a dome is helpful for snorkeling? Thanks for your input!!
@chrisbiela5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. If you are planning a night dives, light is a must. On Manta Rays night dives usually dive shop provides lights. In this case you would not need any. Depends how many divers will be underwater it might be super bright and no red filters needed. I was diving with Kona Diving Company and would recommend it if you are looking for good dive shop. Check out my Kona diving videos to have a glimpse of what I have seen. For snorkeling I would recommend SeaLife SL913 AquaPod Underwater Camera Pole which is also useful while diving.

Really great video, if you were to use an image stabilization filter when editing, especially on those up close shots it will add so much to the videos
@chrisbiela10 жыл бұрын
You are wright. It also reminds me about neutral buoyancy and keep practicing recording steady underwater. A lot of things I'm trying to focus on while diving.

Great video! did you use protune or just the red filter?
@chrisbiela8 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I used only red filter.

you showed the same clip of that white tip shark like 6 times....
@chrisbiela8 жыл бұрын
Finding sharks while diving is always exciting. I spent few minutes recording this white tip shark. Yes. It is showed a few times (I think 5 times) in my video but they are not the same clips. Different movement. Maybe similar but not the same. Thank you for watching it thoroughly.

Why don't you like boat dives? Everytime I go to hawaii with my dad we go out on the boat. Dives are till your tanks are round like 700 psi which equates to like 45 mins. And usually we do 2 dives at 2 different locations. Pretty sure you can achieve further depths with a boat too. Whats better about shore dives? edit: the boat diver masters can get annoying and make it like disneyland.

I think you got a wrong impression here. I love boat dives. There is no way to access some nice dive sites without a boat. Plus you save some energy getting to actual location. Shore dives require a lot of hard work getting in and getting out of the water. This particular trip to Maui was exception to my previous experience. I do not recommend Lahaina Divers because they cut your underwater time to 30 min. NO matter how is your air consumption. Because they have to get back to their dock "on time" for next trip. It sucks. I resurfaced with half of my tank once. They did not care. I canceled the rest of my package a went to someone I knew. Mike from Maui Diving Scuba Center was my diving instructor while back when I got certified. He doesn't do boat dives and I wanted to do Lanai and Molokini crater (accessible only by boat) at the time. He is local and photo enthusiast. The best DM you can wish for. On one dive I spent twice more time underwater then on two tank trip to Molokini crater with Lahaina Divers. It was my personal opinion here. I do boat dives everywhere I go to get a chance to see some bigger animals. Check out some other Hawaii scuba videos on my channel. All of them are from boat dives mostly.

Regarding shore dives. The best thing is that you can do it on your own. Besides the fact it is cheaper, you are doing it at your on pace. Of course you have to know where to go and your limits. Shoe dives are shallow so you stay longer underwater. No decompression stops and a lot of marine life. Not every person likes the boat rides. Especially when is a small boat and the ocean little rough. Those are main differences to compare with boat dives. I like both personally because it is amazing world out there. Just love diving

Reading both those comments makes me want to go diving right now ha. I just recently invested in a go pro and macro/red filter lens. Now just gotta find an affordable light and another trip to Hawaii!
