Awesome video! My husband and I stayed at the ritz carlton last month attending the love song couples getaway. We stayed 9 days. Most amazing place on Earth! Loved snorkeling at Kannapali beach and Big Beach!

August 12, 2023, Kentucky, USA, on KZbin reading about the happenings in beautiful Hawaii and the destruction that is just unheard of your video of four years ago five years ago popped up and I loved seeing the before photo of this historic tree. Our hearts are broken for the people of this beautiful part of our country. God give them all the healing that you can hold in your hands. 2002 a close, our brother jack took his family on a cruise to Hawaii. This included his wife, their three children, spouses and grandchildren. My sister and a dear friend and I hooked onto this trip. As we were seeing so many beautiful sites, Jack took us to the banyan tree. It was one of his favorite spots from my past trip . We sat in the benches and probably the branches, and just marveled at this great creation. We are hopeful like God and his love for his people that goes so deep that nothing can destroy. There will be sadness, but this island will live again as will This beautiful tree and the spirit of those gone.

The Banyan tree is almost a spiritual visit. Everyone whispers and if you listen closely to the video, there are hundreds of birds singing in the background. The tree and all it's "offspring" are full of them. While there, you can't resist touching the tree as if you can almost feel it living and breathing! It is just awe inspiring! I never expected to be so affected by my visit to this majestic piece of history?

We're lucky that videos like this one were made and posted in the past, when nobody could even conceive that Lahaina would be wiped out on August 9, 2023. Although the banyan currently looks bad, I'm confident that it has survived, even though parts of it on the outer perimeter have probably been killed. I'm sure it will shed most of its damaged leaves but will sprout new ones in the coming weeks; I'm writing this comment only 4 days after the fire catastrophe.
