What an amazing perspective instead of the usual sound track and perfect moves. Especially the gear retrieval on the rocks!

Learning to get in on the rocks is part of going out at Ho'okipa for sure.

Thanks for the realistic no-shitty-music view of how it really feels to sail this place. With all the glory and misery, often separated by just milliseconds :)

Great video. Enjoyed the footage and natural seasounds as well. Could watch this for hours. . .

Great video!!! It's nice to hear the original sound of the ocean instead of music and seeing what it's really like at Hookipa for regular windsurfers. Congrats!!

I agree. There's nothing like the sound of the waves.

Hey Matt! Really nice that you spend time shooting those videos for us the people away from Maui ! It feels like we are on the rocks! Just try to catch more of the top guys shredding Hookipa, you know just for the action...
@xavpaw7 жыл бұрын
Aleksandar Avdzhiev if he had only filmed the top guys then this would be just another windsurfing video. its exactly by filming a bit of everything that you get the feeling of beeing there.

Ironic 25 seconds at 18:08- the sailor, G-95, who is towing the JP board in is using a North HERO, 4.5m. BRAVO! Great video! I look forward to more!
@team33837 жыл бұрын
Even more ironic is that maybe the guy didn't want his board to be taken ashore...... 'coz only the mast had popped out! Now he's got to swim with his rig back to the beach for an hour or so.... Still, if it was a NP sail then I suppose the NS guy was having a joke :-) LOL. Just joking, but you never know.

wow! just the gear they have is great. Those black boards look really stable and easy to control.

whew, how good you gotta be to sail that place and not end up in the rocks?
Wonder if the lifeguard would be so quick to help a hairy German fella?!! Those rocks have claimed the best of them, no shame in some rock gardening...

where are all the kitesurfers? If that was my beach at Mt Maunganui, New Zealand, that sort of wind would have 30+ kitesurfers out there!

Sorry! Maui county had rules, their had different spot for windsurfing and kite, just for safty!
@hamishptwc72537 жыл бұрын
it normally comes down to set up space on the beach more than anything. not enough room on the beach at that spot I'd say.
@doncarlo57 жыл бұрын
Have you ever been at ho'okipa ? probably not ... if you see the spot you'll understand why it's simply not practical to have kiters and windsurfers in the same restricted area, it simply wouldn't work ... it's just common sense !! By the way, at the Lake Garda in Italy, windsurfers and kiters have different spots, for the same reason !!
