Just remember, horse driven stage coaches used to traverse this track 100 years ago. This was the only route to Nelson from Marlborough before SH6 was built.

It's crazy to think about how many people used to use this route back in the day must be some crazy stories out there.

I assume you still need a key to open the gate at the top?

Yeah it's still locked aye you can get a key from nelson DOC I think though

oh really? that would be sick to check out actually. yeah, it was a bugger i couldn't. The tracks super gnarly at the moment aye but really fun to drive the sections you can drive lol

@@TikitourOverland havnt been up there in a few years actually but it Was allready rutted out then. Cant imagine what its like now after the rain damage.😭 Need the 4wd club to go up there. Pack a spade and do some track maintanance. lol.

Yea I've never driven it at all until yesterday aye i knew about it for years but never got up there. Yeah it definitely needs some track building in places I'd be keen to help 😊 its a pretty gnarly track

Is there any heavy looking side tracks? Was that from Nelson end?

Hey mate I think theres some gnarly short side tracks but nothing like super crazy. This was from the pelorus side aye

We did that whole track in Feb this year with the university 4wd club. Track was in good condition. I might drive up with a shovel and try make it passable. How bad was the section that stopped you?

Hey mate oh cool!! I'd never done this track b4 aye. Well it's pretty bad just before the saddle its like a big washout kinda thing roughly as wide as a truck with no space to bypass it aye I'd say yeah if you fill it in it will be passable definitely
