This is actually so helpful. I am currently reading Phenomenology of Perception to help me with my thesis and found some parts so difficult to understand, but your videos really help to see things from a different point of view than mine. So thank you so much!

That's great to hear! Glad to offer that different perspective. Good luck with the rest of the book, and the thesis.

The relationship between spatiality and embodiment can be approached through Heidegger’s’ notion of Being-in-the-world, being at hand, and present at hand, nearness; Merleau-Ponty’s Notion of the Body being the Life-world.

what is your take on this argument
@absurdbeing22194 жыл бұрын
@@lordanselglennn.bongcassmm3348 Definitely. Moreover, there are no clear boundaries separating those two notions. MP's most significant contribution to this for me was the way he took H's insight about our non-intellectual, non-rational being-in-the-world, and expanded on it by showing how the body (the "Life-world") is an active, even constituting player, in it.

On your close... The familiar face without eye color recall... Wonder if life - the living it part, experience and turning over to perception - right hemisphere stuff, big picture stuff - wonder if that "demands" that we skip over some of the details. Also wondered if direct, portal to portal comms and contact by two conscious critters are not something of a massive focus-sink. Like we "fall into" the connection and lose focus on the window. Alright, back to the book. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, yes, and yes. I completely agree with that assessment.

Great channel, and a perfect way to explain a rather difficult, yet appealing text.

Thank you. That is Merleau-Ponty to a T; difficult yet appealing.

Thanks for leaving a comment! I don't know anything about Andrew Benjamin, but it is definitely cool to hear some philosophers being discussed in a visual culture course!

Oh, thanks Jon! I've thought about Patreon, but I do feel kinda funny asking for money, and I really, _really_ don't want this stuff to end up being about getting paid. It's bad enough that I turned on YT advertising, but I try not to pay much attention to it! 😄

Hello, could you send me your course or your text on Merlau Ponty's "Causeries" analysis of your 5 videos, I have a philosophy assessment on Monday. That would be really great. Thank you

Sorry, I haven't read them. Are they even available in English?
