I feel this performance really brings out Ravel;s genius: the colour, the contrasts, the long shaping of phrases, the energy, the simplicity, the freshness, the understatedness when most deeply felt. Bravo!

Dunno, Anna - was the clarity revealed here the point, or rather the gauzy shimmer common with other pianists? I've been stealing jazz basslines from this work for weeks, and never heard the lines given such lucidity. A look at the score is in order. Anyway, well said! Of course Tharaud is French - wonder what piano he used.

Most unusual with warlike figures appearing on the keyboard. One would have to be familiar with this wonderful composition mourning the loss of Ravel's friends in WW1.

Tharaud is very good at his Ravel Intégrale. It would be difficult for me to say if I prefer his Ondine to that of Pogorelich,he's as good as that. Like his Miroirs, too. He has been called the piano poet, although am not so fond of his Chopin. He is one of the French pianists of the new generation, let's say, as can be Le Sage, Aimard, Bavouzet, Couteau, Angelich, Amoyel or Ophelie Gaillard. All of them artists one has to count with when speaking about piano or going to buy some Classical Music. I warmly recommend his Ravel. 🎵🎶🆗👍💙
